| Tourism industry plays an important role in the conducting and improving the development of various industries, especially to the growth of innovation industry. It is also significant to the exchange and communication of different cultures. Therefore, the study on tourism culture is meaningful to both reality and academyMore and more experts and scholars started to pay much attention to the issues about translation of Tourism Materials. Though many research have been made, limitation still existed in many aspects, including methodology, subject investigated and range of research. Based on the existed research findings, this thesis discussed the Translation of Chinese-English Tourism Materials in terms of functionalism with the practical analysis of tourism materials collected in Hohhot.According to functionalism, translation is a purposeful human activity that consists of various elements, including source text, target text, original writer, and translator and so on, the purpose of the activity should be put into the first position. Likewise, the translation of Chinese-English tourism material is a process that guided by the skopos rule, coherent rule and fidelity rule. Conducted by the above rules, this thesis analyzes and summarizes the problems in translation of Chinese-English tourism materials and shows the issues by statistics and diagrams.This thesis indicated that the translation of Chinese-English tourism materials should pay much attention to the target reader and aims at spreading the Chinese culture so as to attract more and more travelers come to china. Facing the problems that existed in the tourism materials of Hohhot, the thesis proposed several strategies, such as strengthen the importance of skopos of translation, setting up research program, improving the administrative management and so on. |
