Chinese Font Recognition And Public Space Applications

This article deals with Chinese character's type and recognition by exploring, concluding and summarizing the recognition factors involved in Chinese character design from the aspects of scientific research. In the way of rational analysis and experimental studies, we derive the statistical data and functional relationship by exploring the numerical relationship between strokes, contour, shape, density of Chinese characters'main types and the recognition, discover the penetration law of the relationship between emotion and ration in the type design, and establish the research and analysis system and evaluation system for the basic disciplines of type design,thereby promoting the establishment and improvement of the Chinese character type design theory and methodology.Firstly, the author combed the social background, professional background, terminology and scope of the Chinese character type design logically and historically, laying the foundation for the research of Chinese character type recognition. Subsequently, beginning with dozens of domestic and foreign Chinese character recognition experiments, the author puts the type recognition on the basis of wider research scope and scientific experience and summarizes the factors affecting the recognition of Chinese character type, paving the way for seeking the variables that affect the evaluation and design of character type. And then, by studying the process of Chinese character type recognition, the author reaches the preliminary positioning of Chinese type recognition research, which serves the purpose of clarity and begins with strokes. At this point, the author switches to the analysis of the framework's construction, starting from the principle of clarity, and with the general principle of black and white relations, establishing the recognition research framework from the quantitative and qualitative aspects; the thickness of the strokes and the distribution of white space in the type are the objects of the quantitative study, and the overall recognition and the boundary recognition are for the qualitative study. Thereafter, through the type recognition experiments of traffic character in the public space, we check the framework and results of overall analysis system and verify its correctness, thus completing the overall analysis system of Chinese character type recognition.Against the academic backdrop of information communication, the paper begins with the term system established by Chinese character typography to form a new research method system upon the theoretical basis of visual recognition and information recognition model borrowed from visual psychology and cognitive psychology. The author comprehensively uses the analytical ways of design analysis, mathematical statistics, aesthetics analysis and other analytical tools, and integrates various disciplines involved in the type range. This is a new combination of methodology and practice test. It promotes exchanges and cooperation among different subjects, and develops new ideas in treating the relationship between art and design scientifically with quantitative measures. This method is also extended to other fields related to type recognition and plays a vital role in inspiring the method exploration in other subjects. From the perspective of application, the theoretical results of this study have a practical and guiding function for exclusive type development of the domestic Chinese character word stock and public information systems, as well as the formulation of regulations of widely-distributed words situation in creation, selection and application. Therefore, the quantification of basic theory is more favorable to embracing the heritage of Chinese characters culture.
