Qiang is one of Chinese ancient thenic groups. The interaction and blending between Qiang ethnic group and other ethnic groups promote the development and transition of Chinese ancient society. On the forming and development course of Chinese ancient civilization, Qiang is an indispensable force that cannot be ignored. The problems of Qiang are very complex, although numerous explorations and researches have been done; there is still much vague understanding on Qiang ethnic group. Oracle-bones inscriptions on in Shang dynasty are the earliest reliable systematic documentary material that can be read by scholar. It is a significant amount of material, and inscriptions, related to Qiang ethnic group, provide precious references and important basis.arrangements and studies, on the material of Qiang ethnic group in the oracle-bones inscriptions in Shang dynasty systematically, not only can help us understand Qiang ethnic group in the period of Shang dynasty, but also can help us validate and revise the speculating and vague understanding of Qiang ethnic group. In this way, we can understand Qiang ethnic group in a clearer and rational way and make thorough researches about its origins under the practical condition, and then we can make a clear comprehension of the transition and development of Qiang ethnic group and help us understand the Chinese ancient civilization.This paper is divided into four parts.The introduction part elaborates the reason and the significance of the topic. After reviewing the past research results and analyzing the shortcoming of present research and contents to be studying, the author put forwards the thinking, method and contents of the research.The body of the paper consists of two volumes. One volume focus on arranging and studying the Qiang group's material in the oracle-bones inscriptions in Shang dynasty systematically; the other volume makeS monographic research on some ethnic group,which is related with Qiang but haven't studied clearly.The first volume consists of six chapters. The first chapter focus on the writing styles of "羌"(Qiang) and arranging the previous study. The second chapter arranges the sorts of ethnic group and discusses the existence of Qiang in eastern region. The third chapter mainly studies Qiang's slaves, including the sorts, tasks, managements, and resistance of Qiang's slaves. Also analyze Qiang's women and children. The fourth chapter research on the sacrifices by the people of Qiang ethnic systematically, including the object,reason, ceremony and pattern, the choice and combination of sacrificial offering, and count the number of sacrificial offerings. The fifth chapter mainly analyzes the relationship between Shang dynasty and Qiang', including Shang dynasty's war towards Qiang ethnic and the local-nation of Qiang, and intercourse between Shang dynasty and Qiang. The sixth chapter mainly analyzes relationship between Qiang and other local-nation of ethnic groups, including local-nation and ethnic groups as a friend of Shang dynasty and as an enemy or a friend of Shang dynasty. This chapter also analyzes Qiang war towards local-nation and ethnic groups, and intercourse between Qiang and local-nation of ethnic groups.The second volume consists of four chapters. The seventh chapter mainly researches on the location of"(?)(kuai)". The eighth chapter mainly researches on the location of "疋(shu)". The ninth and tenth chapters analyze and study the condition of "(?)(yan)" and "five ethnics" in the Linxin and Kangding period.The appendix part gathers four Reference valuable essay writed by mysself in the pre-research and in the process of research.
