Researches On The Etymological Cognate In Guang Yashuzheng

Instructed by the theory of modern etymology, this paper use comparative linguistics, sememe and statistics to analyse the phonology and sememe of these relational words, which were made by Wang Niansun in the book of GuangYaShuZheng. In the course of the research, according as the literature language of GuangYaShuZheng, we consult the literatures of XianQin, LiangHan and those interpretative material made by later generations, we get 379 sets of paronym in the end. We conclude and analyse the relation types of phonology and sememe, the disciplinarian of phonology transformation, combine rules of phonology and sememe of the 379 sets of paronym. All things discuss the theory, the method, the achievement and the insufficient in the research on the etymological cognate in Wang Niansun's GuangYaShuZheng. Instructed by the theory of that the tenet of explanation of words in ancient books is from the pronunciation, Wang Niansun founded the interpretation theory of that by right of the pronunciation of a word to confirm its meaning. From this way, Wang Niansun analysed some related language phenomenon to research the paronym, and got great achievement. Either in the part synchronic work or in the part diachronic work, he promoted the Chinese paronym researches achieve the area of etymology. Compared to the other scholars in his era, Wang Niansun did the best in the area of the theory, research method and interpretation practice. He established a stability base for the system of later-day and modern time Chinese etymology.
