Development: Evolution Of Mankind's Forms Of Existence

This dissertation holds that development philosophy is a problem domain with thematic cores covering all the areas of human social life,the core of whose transition and evolution is the evolution of man's existence forms. Researches on social development issues must start from cultural researches,constructing contemporary development philosophy through an integration of philosophy and anthropology. The essence of Marxist philosophy is an integrated theoretical system about mankind,an example of integration of philosophy and anthropology. This dissertation maintains that anthropological research constitutes the beginning and end of Marxist philosophical ideas,through which Marx integrated his earlier metaphysical elaboration of human society and actual human social development process,establishing a brand new theoretical system for the elaboration of human social development issues from the perspective of existence forms. Guided by this theory of Marx,this dissertation undertakes an analysis of the two different types of development of modern Western civilization and Chinese modernization,pointing out that the capitalist large industries created by Western civilization radically transformed the pattern of agricultural civilization an culture and established a cultural pattern of modern industrial civilization,thereby realizing a fundamental change of mankind's form of existence. Although Chinese modernization was also prompted by the invasion of modern Western civilization,it exhibits apparent delay. All these are dictated by particular historical,cultural tradition and background of the times. With the coming of age of globalization,the disappearance of the formations of political consciousness of national states and the generation of global culture,a new form of existence - globalized existence is taking shape.
