Before logic is separated from philosophy and afterwards, philosophers always take logic as an effective tool to deal with philosophical problems. The methodological character of some modern logical methods now becomes more and more evident. At the beginning of the 21st century, along with the systematical import of western logic, the debate of Name and Actuality in traditional Chinese philosophy develops into modern multidimensional debates about logic. The Chinese scholars at the beginning of the 21st century encounter a kind of self-contradictory situation. On the one hand, they hold that there could be different systems of logic, which presupposes that logic is plural, and that the logical thoughts in ancient China have an equivalent status of western logic. On the other hand, they usually use faulty analogy to study the logical thoughts in ancient China, and overlook the similarities and differences between the logical thoughts in ancient China and western logic. This means that the Chinese scholars,at the same time, have a monist conception of logic.During the 21st century, the different conceptions of logic express themselves differently in modem multidimensional debates about logic.1 .With regard to the debate of induction and reduction, some monists emphasize inductivism, some ones favor reductivism. However, considering the critique of dogmatic methodology in traditional Chinese philosophy, all of them agree on the logical clarification of concepts or categories in traditional Chinese philosophy. It is worth to be mentioned that the inductivists actually do not agree on the justification of induction.2.The different debates about dialectical logic in the 21st century reflect the different attitude to dialectical logic. The monist conception of logic takes theso-called dialectical logic as a sub-discipline of philosophy and denies its legitimacy, and the pluralists differentiate dialectical logic from dialectic and regard the former as a kind of logic.3.The controversy between the monist and pluralist conception of logic also happens in the field of logic teaching. The monists maintain that some content of traditional logic, dialectical logic and induction should be excluded from the field of logic, and that traditional logic should be replaced by modern logic in logic teaching. At the same time, the pluralists oppose the one-sided understanding of logic, and take both traditional and modern logic, both formal and dialectical logic, both reductive and inductive logic as logic.Basing upon the reconstruction of the development of modern multidimensional debates about logic in the 21st century in China, the author of this dissertation suggests that a pluralist conception of logic is more reasonable. The word of "pluralist" here means not only different systems of logic, but also different approaches to the study of logical thoughts in ancient times. According to the author's opinion,we should take western logic as an equivalent other when using it to study the logical theories in ancient China, that is to say,pay the same attention to the similarities and differences between the logical theories in ancient China and western logic.
