| Yang Xiong was writer, linguist and thinker in Han Dynasty. He was a representative of China culture in the intermediate stage between two Han Dynastys by his profound Knowledge and extensive learning and a large number works. His experiences and works inevitably reflected the culture character of that era. This article rsearches Yang Xiong's expriences and works. His aesthetic attitude to person, art, natural objects in his works, his different selection to color in different stage of his life, the cultural trend of his literature.In the first part, namely the first chapter, I approach Yang Xiong's experiences and works. In the middle and later stage of Western Han Dynasty, political power was controled by central authority. Scholar commonly tended towards the capital, namely Chang'an in that era. He lived in Shu area before middle age and in Chang'an after. His literary creation tendency changed with the transformation of his culture atmosphere and vision field. So it is very important to approach his experience, copyright to the works and the creation time of the works for researching on himself and his period. In section one, I approach all his life, laying particular emphasis on experiences affecting his thought and literary creation and the matters relatively with these things. In section two, I approach his whole works and make every effort to arrange them in time order.In the second part, I research into Yang Xiong's aesthetic tendency in his literary works. From Western Zhou Dynasty to Spring and Autumn to Warring states to Han Dynasty , it is the important period of aesthetic tendency changing. The tall and big and the leisure and steady were thought as beauty in Zhou Dynasty. The swift and curved was thought as beauty in Chu area literary works in Warring States.The founders of Han Dynasty from Chu area spred the tendency to Chang'an. The Confucianists thinking inheriting Zhou Dynasty tradition became ruling thinking after middle Han Dynasty. So two trends were formed: traditional beauty was held in esteem linking with the civilization of ceremony and music in ruling consciousness, the new tendency came into fashion in real life. These two tendencies were reflected in Yang Xiong's literary works of his different life stages, which reflected that the different cultures could be contained in the historical ascending stage and that it was complex in the same writer. In the second, third, forth and fifth chapter, I analyze these problems. I analyze Yang Xiong's aesthetic attitude to person-man and woman in the second chapter, that to art-music and buildings in the third chapter, that to nature-mountain and river in the forth chapter and that to emperor's horses and flags in the fifth chapter.In the third part, namely sixth chapter, I analyze Yang Xiong's different trends to color in his earlier and later stage. Color is a essential factor of visual. It is important to literary imagination. Color has cultural significance. People gave different symbol meaning and collected different color in different cultural background. Yang Xiong's trend to color reflected his idea's variation. In section one, I approach his tendency in his earlier stage-thinking the bright and colorful as beauty. In section two, I approach his tendency in his later stage-tending to the dim and dull.In the forth part, namely seventh chapter, I generally analyze cultural trend of Yang Xiong's literary works. His literary works could be divided into two kinds: the satirical and sacrificial and the aspiration. I divide this chapter into two sections according to above-mentioned division. In the first section, I approach his creative consciousness tending towards the Confucianists. In the second section, I approach his Taoiest school tendency of his way of life in his lyric works. We can draw a conclusion that Yang Xiong wastending towards the Confucianists in his idea, he took the speech and way of life of the Confucianists in his idea, he took the speech and way of life of the Taoiest school in his action and...
