War usually became a precursor of social change. World War II took such an effect to the Great Briton. After the World War FI, The reformative desires of the people of the Great Briton prove the Labor Party to the center of political stage. Under the inspiring victory of general election, leader of the Labor Party, Attlee government energetically carried out "democratic socialist" reform, which left a perpetual effect to the Great Briton, and also brought a wide effect to international world.This reform was famed "a peaceful social revolution" by some scholars, and which classically reflected the social and cultural character of the Great Briton: reform was available but moderate. The tendentious combination of "revolution" and "peace" looked contradictory, but resulted a "reasonable" reform.The democratic socialist reform of Attlee Government was a large-scale "socialism" reform which took place in an advanced capitalist country and had a great theoretical and practical significance. It will not only help us understand the development of the British postwar history and widen our view, but also enrich our knowledge of the international socialism movement. In addition, the experience and lesson in the reform affords us a salutary lesson for our socialist reform.Study to the reform of the democratic socialism of the Labor Party has been emphasized in the academic circles of our country since the 1980s, but treatises and important essays have been rarely appeared. There have been no consistent views on the problem of reform evaluation. Based on this condition, this essay tries to make an analysis based on facts to the democratic socialist reform of the Labor Party administration, in order to get an objective and epochal conclusion. Examining from the developing course of English history, this reform brought a positive influence; from the aspect of ideology, it was a great test on post-war socialism in UK, it was also an exploration for the working-class political party in the developed countries to realize its aim of seeking socialism. Therefore, this reform, general speaking, had a positive nature.This essay took the content of the democratic socialist reform of Attlee government as its main clue, through which constructed its own logical structure. Ft contained two parts: introduction and text. In the introduction part, the author introduced some political commentators' explanations of concept of "democratic socialism", in addition, briefly expounded the research conditions on the democratic socialist reform of Attlee government, the views and evaluations of the academic circles of the Great Briton, the USSR and the Communist Party of the Great Briton, the Labor Party of the Great Briton, the academic circles of our country, and the author's basic views. The text was divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, the author analyzed internal relations between World War II and the Labor Party taking power, the reason of the Labor Party winning the general election in 1945, and the chances and challenges facing to the Labor Party administration. In the second chapter, the author introduced the early political lives of Attlee, briefly commented and analyzed his acknowledges to socialist movement, his speeches on socialist characters of the Great Briton, and his prospects for socialist expedition of the Great Briton. In the third chapter, the author examined various measures of economy and social reforms of the Labor Party administration, analyzed origins, characters of Nationalization, and management and achievements of state-owned enterprises, construction of welfare state, including policies of full employment, foundations of national insurance systems and national medical treatment systems, and policies of housing and education and so on. On the aspect of planned economy, the author stressed making and implementing of the planned economy.
