Under the instructon of the theory of historical materialism, and by utilizing themethod of histoy, the article does textual research analysis into eight scripted systems in the Five Dynasties, trying to ascertain the unique historical place of the Five Dynasties constitutionally, in order to get a fairly correct idea of the transformation of the Tang and Song Dynasties. The article consists of three phases:the preface,the main body, and the conclusion.The preface covers a genaral survey of the research on the scripted systems of the Five Dynasties in the academic circle, simutaneuosly briefly set forth the authors' cardinal arguments, theoretical and historical demonstrations, together with the methodology, further pointing out the significance of the thesis in the recent structuring political and constitutional civilisations.The main body consists of eight chapters.The first chapter dwells on the taxes and corvee system by making clear the evolution of the central financial apparatuses of the era and their projecting military logistical function.Thus a conclusion that the evolution not only reflects upon the era's distinctions of warfare and separatist situation, so there born a concept of Financial Pattern, which is used to inspect the effect and influence of the taxes and corvee system of the Five Dynasties. It thus makes clear the era's political situation and economical center's moving southward which were hinted by the taxes and corvee system.The second chapter dwells on the forms of the currency in the Five Dynasties which reflects upon the waring and separatist situation, moreover it reveals the era's commodity economy order, thus the conclusion the the commercial status of the Central Land and the South actually changed.The third chapter dwells on the two accasions of the officials' failure of their duty and failure of their constitution to get a clear picture of the era's cntral apparatuses and their relationship with the absolute monarchy. The Five Governments initially changed the situation of the TangDynasty's separatist military governors by re-dividing the local adminstrative regions, especially the set-up of "Zhizhou"(the governor in charged of Zhou).It shows that the absolute monarchy and centralisation of state power were consistent with the unreverabble tendengcy of territoial integrity by analizing apparatuses of the Five Dynasties.The fourth chapter dwells on the gradual centralisation of military power by study into the imperial guards; the general changes in military situation by study into the local military governors' troops. The two phases rightly reflects upon the central government's more and more tightened control over the local troops.The fifth chapter first analizes the background of the Five Dynasties'Imperial Examinations with a view to the living environment of the intellectuals. Hence a clear picture of the Five Governments'policy of Imperial Examinations and the general trend of the intellectuals' culture. It then addresses the issue of the era's the intellectuals'cultivation and common custums.The sixth chapter first looks into the Five Dynasties'official schools and their changes in the specific era of Tang and Song 's transition,so as to give them an important position in ancient Chinese educayional and cultural history.lt contains a textual research which shows that "guozijian" (the Imperial School) 's decline,confined solely in taking a part in culture mainly.secondly,it goes deep into the retainrnent and removal of the so-called "six Schools and Two Libraries"(originated from Tang Dynasty) in the Five dynasties.lt further expounds the more and more publicization of the Five dynasties'official schools.
