This thesis mainly studies the adverbs in Zhuzi's Language Category(朱子语类) which has played an important role in Chinese grammar history .Combination of diachronic study with synchronic study ,static description with inductive analysis , qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis , generality study with personality study is used to analyze the adverbial syestem and its origin and development , hoping to learn as much as possible process of the formation and the history of the development and evolution of the burgeonling adverb in modern Chinese, and to outline the main appearance and distinguish features of the modern Chinese adverb and to get prerequisite for further research on the development of all the Chinese adverbs.The whole book is divided into four chapters except forward and conclusion. Chapter I .General argumentIt mainly introduces the definition , application and grammatical function , natures of the Chinese adverbs , full word or form word to which it belongs and drawing the line between the adverbs and other related parts of speech and the classification and other relevant matters to show our basic viewpoints as to adverbs. Chapter II. Main argumentBy the order of Adverb of Degree , Adverb of Place ,Adverb of Time ,Adverb of Manner, Adverb of Negative, Adverb of Interjection, we give a thorough statistics to all the adverbs in ZLC (朱子语类) , and explore the newly appeared adverbs in modern Chinese one by one, get a general martery of adverbs in ZLC, and a clear knowlegment of their places in the developing of Chinese adverbs has been obtained. Chapter III Supporting argument It discusses on eight issues.1.The class of "sha" ("煞"类副词)It investigates the application, production and development of "tai" (太) , "te" (忒) , "sha" (煞), "tai sha" (太煞), "te sha" (忒煞), "ke sha" (可煞) and so on, in ZLC especially explain the issue of "sha" (煞) as complement and so on.2.It discusses the application, production and extinction of "da duan"( 大段) and "dagu" (大故) in ZLC.3.It discusses the usage and evolution of "zhu xuan" (逐旋) ," xuan xuan" (旋旋) .4.It makes an in-depth analysis of the grammatical significance, production and development of the bi-syllabically adverbial class of "jin" ("尽"类双音副词) .5.Compared with modern Chinese, it investigates the grammatical significance and usage of "suo xing" (索性) in ZLC and explains its production and development and discusses the usage of "suo xing" during Qing Dynasty.6.It classifies the overlapped adverbs in ZLC from the respect of form and meaning and then analyzes specifically from the aspect of meaning, grammar and application.7.It investigates the adverbs of same element but different orders in ZLC ,one byone, and analyses why they are produced and why their orders are fixed so.8.On the basis of discussion about the usage of the adverb "zhen ge" (真个) in ZLC, it gives thorough analysis to the main types, semantic expressive function, syntactic function of the adverbial structure and the reason for modifiers. Chapter IV Additional argumentIt mainly illustrates two issues: one is to explore the formation of Chinese adverbs by "cen ci"(参差) and stress the reason of the production of the adverb "cen ci". The other is to observe the stability and development of Chinese adverbs through the evolution of adverbial class of "jian" ("渐"类副词) , hoping to draw a common conclusion through diachronic investigation on the individual adverb.
