Study Of Xishuangbanna Dai Language Place Names

The place names of nationalities languages are parts of Chinese toponymy. This paper takes the place name of Dai language in Sipsuong Bhaannaa for example, systemically discussing and studying the place names characteristic, words and phrases features, the relations of the place name and the Dai culture items and the place name standardizaion. This paper are divided into seven parts.In the introductory remarks, we discuss the studying method, the studying situation, the studying object, the studying significance of Dai place name.In the first chapter,we introduce the basic theory of toponymy,Dai race history and culture and organizational system of Dai history.In the second chapter, in the first, we simply introduce the total situations of Sipsuong bhaannaa place names, then we emphatically expound the place name character tic of Dai language from across national borders, the variation of space distribution, multiples-overlaps, diversity and words and phrases specialty.In the third chapter,we analyze words and phrases structure, typestructure in detail of Dai language from descriptive linguistics and analyze the naming base from cultural linguistics, on base of them, we compare the place name of Dai language with its language groups, language branches to see its changes in space and time.In the forth chapter, we expound synchronic situation and diachronic evolution from stratification view, we divide Dai place names into six time layers, namely the layer of Bai-the layer of Zhuang-Kam,the layer of ancient Chinese, the layer of Dai-Tai,the layer of Sip SD Pan Na,the layer of modern Chinese.In the fifth chapter is our emphasis, we fully and accurately dwell on the close relations be between Dai culture and Dai place name, especially from nature environment and matter culture, social institution, religions, race migration, the race name in the place name, we cut it into five sections, in the first section, we discuss the Dai place name and Dai nature environment, Dai matter culture and think the place names are close relation to its environment , matter culture; in the second section, we discuss Dai place names and Dai social institution, especially Dai place names and feudal servitudes, feudal land relation, feudal official ranking; In the third section, we discuss the close relation of Dai place names and Dai original religion and Dai Little Vehicle Buddhism, and Little Vehicle Buddhism propagatation route; in the forth section, we discuss Dai place names and Dai race migration, and think Dai raceimmigrate from Guangxi and Guangdong provinces by the boundary of Viet Nam and Yunnan province into the north of Laos and Thailand, then into Yunnan province. In the fifth section, we discuss the relation of race names in the Dai place name and ethnic groups, race immigration, the base of why Jingpo race and Hui race nameIn the sixth chapter,we expound the standardization course and problem of Dai place names from standardization view, and provide some effective principle and measures to solve non-standardized phenomena.
