Beijing Place Names Linguistics Visits

This thesis analyses the synchronic and diachronic features of Peiking place names in a linguistic perspective, as well as the relationship between Peiking place names and regional culture. This thesis first introduces a historical and geographical survey on Peiking, and presents current works in the area of Peijing place names, then the phonetic and lexical features of Peij ing place names are described in detail, finally by means of statistics it concludes on a trend to elegance and science in the development of place names, and Beijing regional culture reflected by place names of Beijing.
