Study On The Poetic Theory Of Qian Zhongshu

Qian Zhongshu was a talented writer in modem times in China. Because of his long-term literary creative practice, he had abundant aesthetic experience. At the same time, Qian was an erudite scholar, who had rich knowledge about Chinese and Western culture in ancient and modern times. So when he researched into the classical works of Chinese and Western literature and poetics, Qian combined with his own literary creative experience. Relying on his advanced academic ideas and broad view on research, basing on Chinese literature and seeking common points while reserving differences from foreign literature, starting out from specific artistic phenomena, by means of reading works thoroughly and making comparison with works of the same kind, Qian opened the equal dialog and explored the same kind of aesthetic law between Chinese and Western literature and poetics. Furthermore, Qian made profound theoretical explanation on a lot of poetics thesis, such as verse ontology, poet subject theory, verse creative theory, and appreciating theory, which surpassed the work past scholar had done. Finally, Qian established encyclopedical poetic ideas of his own style, and became a famous scholar in Chinese cultural history in the 20th century, who had great academic attainments and was worth researching deeply by the following scholars. Basing on the foundation of the present research material about Qian, the purpose of this paper is to explain and exhibit the intrinsic profound theory and the great academic value of his works explicitly, by exploring his poetics ideas thoroughly.
