A Study Of The Spirit Of Hou Cun's Poetic Theory

Liu Kezhuang is a leader of Jiang Hu poetic group in the Nan Song's last stage,which has great influence at that time. This Position is based not only on his plenty of creations and high social position,but also on his profound poetic theory,which directs the younger generation and conforms the poetic progress at that time. At present,the academic circles have not paid enough attention to Hou Cun's poetic theory,so the writer wants to do some in this sphere of learning.In this thesis,the writer gathers lots of materials and studies three problems:the contents,contributing factors and influence of Liu Kezhuang's poetic theory. Firstly,the contents are summarized from Hou Cun Shi Hua,Hou Cun's prefaces and postscripts and a few of his poems. Secondly,the contributing factors are discussed by the means of the statements of all Liu Kezhuang's life,the background of society and the trend of aesthetic thought. Thirdly,the influence of Hou Cun's poetic theory is expounded from the history of poetic progress and poetic theory. In addition,the writer always values Hou Cun's poetic theory dialectically. The worth and shortcomings of his poetic theory are both discussed in this thesis.
