On Habermas' Reconstruction Of Historical Materialism

Historical Materialism is one of the important research matters of the West Marxism. Since long , many theorist have fervidly studied this theme, and put forward a lot of value viewpoints . Of them, Habermas and his theory is representative, and incarnated some state of their comprehension about Historical Materialism. Habermas' Reconstruction of Historical Materialism has brought forward galactic reverberation in the China and foreign theoretical circles , and effectively hoisted research of Historical Materialism .Since the late of the 80 years in the 20 century, in China has been "an upsurge of Habermas", and many scholars have interpreted a lot of work on Habermas and his theory , and so , they have put forward our research of Habermas and his theory. However , Here is a tendency which many people takes to the introduction of his theory, in the whole and single theme of his theory, and a little of comment ,and there has not been some profundity and systemic comment. Thus , it is uneasy to grasp his theory and its essence . So is "Habermas' Reconstruction of Historical Materialism". But ,this theory is the highest level of his whole theory, it shall be researched in profundity and systemic . Therefore , to chose "Habermas' Reconstruction of Historical Materialism" for my thesis takes on a certain significance of research . My subject is worthy of some important theory .My thesis is based upon Habermas' original works and thought, and keeps up the Marxist stand and method and viewpoint for guide ,and displays the overall and reasonable and accurate comprehension and evaluation . At the same time , I have adhered to comprehend and common on the contents and essence of this theme with logic and historical, analyse and synthesis , abstract and concrete, complete and contact method. . I hope that my thesis can serve some evaluation ideas for the development of Marxist Historical Materialism.The thesis has made the important innovation . That is , what is just the first chapter on the intioduction , displays its social and ideological background ; what shows its general contents that Habermas comprehends and criticizes Historical Materialism , and the third chapter is on his theory method, and the forth chapter displays the contents of Habermas reestablished theory; what is my comment on Habermas' Habermas' Reconstruction of Historical Materialism .My conclusion is the following points : 1) "Habermas' Reconstruction of Historical Materialism" has betrayed Marxism's essence standpoint and viewpoint. In essence it is not of Historical Materialism. 2) " Reconstruction " , in essence , is not innovation and development , but " overthrowing " , is "sep^rat i ng and reestab I i sh i ng ". he corrects those so-called mistakes and replace the new ideas into Historical Materialism. He vigorously separates Marx' Historical Materialism , which is called the original theory by him , with linguistics and mental analysis method , and reestablishes it, with his own communication theory , into another so-called new theory which is " the reconstruction of HistoricalMaterialism" or " the social evolution theory ", and he thinks that his theory is better than Marx' Historical Materialism . 3) His reconstruction of Historical Materialism , as a so-called new theory , in essence , is not of Marx' Philosophy but of sociology . 4) According to his reestablishing notion , Habermas reestablishs his own theory of social development, which involves philosophy and sociology and ethics and linguistics and anthropology and psychology and histories and so on , and it probes into some major subjects on social evolution from different angles . In general, his theory is false . However , I think that it gives the three value lesson , that is , to adhere to Marxism way is certain for us to develop Historical Materialism; to adhere to the new social fact and matters; with dialectical viewpoint , to inherit the present excellent culture producton .
