The academic pursuit and value expectation of this thesis is on the basis of rereading and newly-explain of texts, under the vision of new theory, make the search about hero narrative of literature from Left Wing to War of Resistance Against Japan in conjunction of magnificent and microcosmic ,to hold the relation between hero narrative and mainstream ideology, to establish the value status of heroism in the history of Modern Chinese Literature, to study the form category of hero narrative, narrative characteristic and narrative model, to find out the narrative construction that implied in texts and the most substantial meaning that is contained , and then, to discover the inherence logic of the showing of heroism in texts ,to reveal the development rule of hero narrative in the history of Modern Chinese Literature. Paying attention to hero narrative is an effective angle of view that rereads ,re-explains ,re-understands and reflects over the literature from Left Wing to War of Resistance Against Japan. This thesis is divided into four parts, namely exordium, first-volume, second-volume and conclusion. There are four chapters, fourteen sections in all. In exordium, we collate and stipulate the conceptions, to limit the range of study, and backdate briefly a correlative historical clew. The first-volume is pandect that mainly discuss the cultural circumstances of language, the track of transmutation, the esthetic characteristic of and the form category of hero narrative of literature from Left Wing to War of Resistance Against Japan. The second-volume is the case study that mainly to hold minute characteristic in texts of hero narrative, especially to realize the showing characteristic of hero idea in texts,the aesthetics characteristic ,the narrative dynamics and the narrative model of texts, and then to come to realize the rich and varied nature of hero narrative. Chapter one, generally holding the features and view of hero narrative of literature from three aspects which are the cultural circumstances of language, the track of transmutation and the form category. First, the tendency of development and some essential traits of hero narrative were restricted by the cultural circumstances of language in that period from Left Wing to War of Resistance Against Japan. Second, we comb the track of transmutation of hero narrative in that period ,depict the approximately tendency of hero narrative in that space ,and make clearly the basic outline of hero narrative with the developed changes of hero figures as a clew. Third, the main esthetic characteristics of hero narrative of Left Wing Literature are that emphasizing the 'epochal'qualities of literature, paying attention to functional composing that exceeds the epoch; the romantic narrative under realism banner; and there being exceedingly short distance between texts and reality. The main esthetic characteristic of Literature about War of Resistance Against Japan is that the on-the-spot-record elements which were added in the early days of war; the texts of hero narrative which were vacillated between reality and legendary in the mid-later period of war ,the symbolic and metaphorical characters which were enhanced in the later-period of war, All those were showed even more outstanding in historical novels and historical dramas. Chapter two, combing the main form category of hero narrative in literature from Left Wing to Resist War. From the general view of narrative forms, there are three main kind of narrative forms , one is that showed the opposition about social classes and revolutions struggle, the second is that showed the picture scroll of national war, and the third is that based on reality to reconsider history. When we analyses above-mentionedthree kinds of narrative forms, we separately make narratologies analyses about them. Through the analyses with front two narrative forms, we sum up two narrative models that are worth to pay attention to, namely'ethic/revolution hero'replacement model in hero narrative of Left Wing Literature and'gangsters/national hero'transform model in hero narrative of Resist War literature. The discussions about two narrative models made us seeing the basic structure form of Modern Chinese Literature clearly. Through the analyses about the third narrative model, we focus on the question about the relation between hero narratives in history and hero narratives in literature. Chapter three, choosing Luxun, Jiangguangci, Xiaohong, Xiaojun , Zhengzhenduo to made the case analysis. The hero idea was the important part in the complex system of Lxun's thoughts. Luxun adored hero from the needs of advocating individualism .Appealing for 'Soldier in Spirit Field'was the significant contents of his hero idea. Luxun distinguished constructive heroes from destructive heroes. The relation between heroes and masses was also the important aspect of his hero idea. There were profound contacts between Luxun's hero idea and his enlightenment practice. The hero narrative in his historical novels was the visual showing of his hero idea. Luxun shaped divinities hero, monarch hero, intellectual hero and knight-errant hero in his historical novels. There were obvious differences of space and time between Luxun's historical novels and novels of authentic Left Wing writers. The maintenance of legitimacy of narrative of Luxun at Left Wing time was at the cost of minifying the function of narrative. Jiangguangci's hero narrative was mostly close to mainstream ideology and the grand narrative under the frame of political ethics. The characters of his narrative are that replacing the need of history by the need of moral ethic and regarding the need of moral ethic as narrative power. The contradiction that showed by him is the classical contradiction of heronarrative of Left Wing Literature. The narratives of Xiaohong and Xiaojun were the earlier examples that hero figures came to 'being group'in the history of Modern Chinese Literature. Group heroes are the same forms of lives full of courage and uprightness. The hero narrative of Zhengzhenduo's historical novels has under lied relation to revolutionary thoughts. There is equivalent in value judgment between his texts and Left Wing works and it shows the same conscience structure with Left Wing Writers'.The dynamics of Zhengzhenduo's hero narrative comes from the basic accordant conscience structure with Left Wing writers Chapter four, we choose hero narrative texts of Duanmuhongliang, Songlin, Xiebingying and Yaoxueyin and make concrete analyses. The hero narratives of these four writers were the representative case samples in the time of War of Resistance Against Japan. In Duanmuhongliang's works,the farmer hero occupied quite great proportion, the gangster hero was in the next place. It is the most obvious characteristic of the narrative model in his novels that the heroes were naturalized and the nature was humanized. Songlin's novels < Shoal> shaped the hero figure of modern enterpriser. is the continuum of hero narrative about modern enterpriser was initiated by .Xiebingying's is the representative text that made feminism and heroism associative. Yaoxueyin's put up brand-new aesthetic sight on gangsters and it endows gangsters the qualities of 'hero'. Through the analyses about above-mentioned works that go deep into details, we master the diversity and abundance of hero narrative of Literature about War of Resistance Against Japan In the conclusion, we sum up seven noticeable aspects of hero narrative of literature from Left Wing to War of Resistance Against Japan: First, hero narrative is the important narrative form in the history of Modern Chinese Literature, and also one of the mostly lifeful narrativeforms. Modern 'hero"is one kind of human. Hero narrative is the important part of writing about 'human'and it is also a strong narrative pointed direction that harmonize with suffering and moving and tragic history .If this kind of narrative form was ignored, the objective description of Modern Chinese Literature history will be impinged. Second, heroism is the important value pursuit of Modern Chinese Literature. This kind of value pursuit have been producing variation along with the development of era, In the history of Modern Chinese Literature, there are abundant, much layered direction and dimension Third, in the hero narrative of period from Left Wing to War of Resistance Against Japan, from early PuLuo Literature, the total trend of 'body status going down'about hero figure in social structure (in the later-period of Resist War, there was partly trend of'body status going up'phenomenon in the total trend of 'body status going down')began to appear and come forth 'being group 'and 'becoming many-faceted'phenomena. The inherent trends of being noble, being monarch and being oral of hero figures were abandoned gradually by the hero narrative in this period. In the period of War of Resistance Against Japan ,the ideology environment and the literature ecologic environment that were comparatively free made the hero narrative become more abundant and multiple. Farmers, soldiers, clerisies, national enterprisers, gangsters and historical figures etc appeared in hero narrative in the period of War of Resistance Against Japan .And the period of War of Resistance Against Japan is that full of quite rich and colorful hero narratives. Fourth, there is essential difference and as well as profound connection between hero narrative in literature and hero narrative in history. The hero narrative in literature is more closed to historical narrative than any other narrative forms. The trend of being great man of historical narrative affects hero narrative of literature to great degree.The hero narrative in history is of literature nature and the hero narrative in literature also is of historical nature that 'look like wrong but is right'but we cannot enlarge the metaphor nature of historical narrative boundlessly, and we also cannot parallel hero narrative in literature with the hero narrative in history. Fifth, it is showed by the total esthetic characteristics of Left Wing Literature that most of the Left Wing writers flaunt his creation as realism, because realism is a kind of ideology, in which surged great aspiration of Left Wing writers for changing reality, they want to build great blueprint about future society by using utterance. The romantic habitude of hero narrative of Left Wing Literature has blurred the boundary between realism and romanticism. Being urged by the narrative motivation that using narrative to draw the history, the maladies of conceptualization and sameness appeared in the hero narrative of Left Wing Literature, which is the inevitable result because that they added overloaded politics passion, politics ideas and politics norms on literature. It is showed by the total esthetic characteristic of hero narrative in Literature of War of Resistance Against Japan that during the war period the hero narrative wandered among realism, legend, metaphor and symbol. The hero narratives mobilize the function of narrative to the limit for the great war of nation liberation. Sixth, there is prodigious homology character between'ethic/revolution hero'replacement model and'gangsters/national hero'transform model. All the hero figures of Left Wing Literature endured ethical stress and made ethical sacrifice then accomplished their heroic causes.'Gangster'is an ethical judgment about a kind of human living style. These two narrative models all have intrinsic contact with ethical judgment.
