Morning Glow: A Sample Of Mainstream Literature In The Later Period Of "the Culture Revolution"

The Culture Revolution Literature is an important existence in Chinese literature history of 20th century. Morning Glow, which is a sample of mainstream literature in the later period of the Culture Revolution, is irreplaceable in the Culture Revolution Literature due to Morning Glow's special relationship with the Radical Party and standing for the practices and theories of the Radical Party; besides, the theories and practices that it reflected were not alone, it is associated with the last"17-year-period"and the next"New-Era-period", even with the"Yan-an-art-period"or more. So exploring this"virgin land"should be an inevitable and profound task. Getting a study of the mainstream literature of the Culture Revolution and exhibiting the political culture and society lives of that time are the aims of this thesis. In order to reach these aims, I follow Morning Glow's own characteristics to show its original features and study it as the whole. In order to achieve the aims, two main aspects are considered when I write the thesis. First, focus on Morning Glow itself. That is to master Morning Glow's essence so that the characteristics of mainstream literatures in the later period of the Culture Revolution could be shown; Second, put Morning Glow into the Chinese present literature system to find the source of some important theories, concepts and literature phenomena involved in Morning Glow so that the researcher's view which regard the literature history as the whole could be expressed when studies Morning Glow's irreplaceable meaning in literature history. There are seven chapters in this thesis:Chapter one, the generation of Morning Glow. This chapter focuses on two main issues: one is the political and cultural background of the generation of the magazine; the other one is itself identification of Morning Glow.
