A Study On Bestowals And Some Issues Related In West Zhou Dynasty

The dissertation based on taking advantage of advanced achievements in academic circles, which combining with the materials about historical documents, ancient characters and archaeology that makes a research into those rewarded goods and articles recorded by the inscriptions on the ritual objects of West Zhou dynasty, which mainly include the following aspects: Horses and Carriages, Drinking habits, Costumes and Garments, Arms and Weapons, Flags, Shells, Silks and its Products, Gold Articles, Jades and Jewelry, Ritual Objects, Lands, Lords and its Subjects, Animals and Other issues. At the end of each chapter, the author also compiles and records the related materials that are discussed in the chapter. Besides these, some discussions and analyses about the institutions on etiquettes and rituals can be found in the article.The prerequisite for the recognition of the rewarded goods and articles needs right interpretation of those verbs about bestowing and rewarding acts. As different verbs usually can imply different relationship between the giver and the receiver in the act of awarding so the article especially makes discussions about the verbs on bestowing and rewarding act in one chapter. Moreover, the author makes a quantitive study of the rewarded goods and articles in order to find out the whole condition of bestowing awards and the regular patterns on combining rewarded goods and articles.
