The previous research on the relevance between modern Chinese and modern literature concentrated on exploring the literary world of experience by means of the theory of "Device and Ontology" which ignores the sense of Chinese language. That is to say, it displays the relationship between language and culture from two aspects, one in the universal sense, and the other in the sense of modern Chinese language. Through the grasp of the dynamic relationship between modem language and modern literature, the dissertation is intended to illustrate the following viewpoints with the aid of the current research findings, and sufficient data and argumentation. First, from the particularity of modern Chinese and modern literature and with "modern" and "western" background in the creating and developing periods of Chinese language and literature, the interactive relationship between language and culture in the sense of modern Chinese will be expounded on the basis of the textual research on the history. Second, three basic sentence patterns which formed in the interaction between language and literature, such as colloquialism, westernization and poetizing will be probed into according to the different reference frames of the development of modern literature. During the probe, the author attempts to skip over the language units of the theory of "Device and Ontology" and separate the descriptive behavior from the language and thought temporarily, though the narration is developed by involving the history of Chinese modern literature from the perspective of linguistics. Third, compared with the former literary language research focusing on the creating period of modern Chinese, the dissertation furthers the exploration of modern Chinese literary language in the interaction between language and literature into the developing period of modern Chinese. The dissertation is divided into 4 chapters. Chapter 1 Modern Chinese and Literary Works is intended to explore the three basic sentence patterns of colloquialism, westernization and poetizing which formed in the interaction between language and literature and then clarify the issue of "practical writing" and "literary writing" which are closely related to modern Chinese and modern literature. Chapter 2 Establishment of Style: Spoken and Written Language aims at exploring how the spoken language permeates into written literary system and even into the field of reception and media, when the "Language Community" representing the harmony of language and literature is established .Chapter 3 Acquisition of Resources: Westernization and Colloquialism, with the perspective of ideology of Westernization in Chinese literature, will elaborate translation, the medium of Westernization, and ask the contradiction between speaking and meaning of Lu Xun's language subjectivity of experience .Chapter 4 Generation of Nature: Classical and Modern Characteristics, after the exploration of poetic feature of Chinese literature in the 20th century, will present the interactive relation between the stylish transference from poem to novel and Wang Zengqi's poetizing and the poetic space of modern Chinese literature.
