The 20th century was an extraordinary and worthy of aftertaste period. The scholars endowed art with morecultural connotations and life charms, and formed a group of art appreciation, creation and criticismon a higher level of reason. In addition, they cared more about art as a kind of culture, theyparticipated in the art in a special identity, and they guided and supported art, defended and innovatedart, which represented the attitudes towards art of Chinese mainstream culture, became the ridgepoleof the art development and decides the life of art in china, especially in the special historical period.The understanding of the scholars and the thinking about philosophy surpass the awareness ofintuition. They stood on the base of universe and life to appreciate the spirit revelation in art, andcared more about the spirit value besides forms. They explored the art spirits in China from thecultural perspective. After succeeding and opening the traditional art spirits, they found the modernvalues of traditional art again, and made the art spirits of China protrude, meanwhile emphasized thestatues of Chinese culture in the world. In a word, this generation of scholars were closely related toart, and possess art. Their life was colorful; their emotions were released; their ideas were spiritual.Their art was not just a kind of cultural skill, but was elegant and pure.The study of the relationship between scholars and art is not only an important revelation to thelearners, but is a discussion about the relationship between scholars and Chinese culture in onecentury, and has special meanings to the construction of Chinese arts as well as the enrichment of artconnotation.
