C.T.Hsia (1921—) is a famous oversea scholar, who gained a distinguished achievement in the study of Chinese Literature and influenced Chinese academic circle greatly. His works are regarded as one of the sources on "Rewrite the history of Chinese Literature" in new ages, deserved further study nowadays. From the viewpoint of comparative poetics, this treatise is dedicated to grasp his view and method of study, as well as the mode of thought. By doing so, we hope to know integrally about his academic development, contradiction and limits. Meanwhile it can provide much enlightenment about how to study literature to native scholar. Than we try to adopt it to the critical practice, and find out more the particular character of Chinese Literature.ChapterⅠintroduced the academic life and works of C.T.Hsia, the series of reverberation caused by him, as well as the special phenomenon of acceptance and a survey of the present domestic study. The second chapter concluded the reconstructive thinking on history and theory of C.T.Hsia, analyzed his representative works how to conceive and their theory source, including his feature and deficiency. Through the part of the received main body, the conception of novel, the morality and the translation, chapterⅢobserved C.T.Hsia how to make a comparative study from a viewpoint of cross-culture. The fourth chapter summarized his judgment about satire, gathered up his aesthetic principle and pointed out how he combined the Chinese sense of comedy and tragedy with that of the Western. Chapter V focused on his adoption the method of psychology to the critical analysis of character and writer, meanwhile questioned his estrangement of comprehension. The last chapter generalized the academic works of C.T.Hsia to be the "Poetics of Alienation" from many parts, and treated it dialectically. By the way, some chapters aimed at the blankness of his study, illustrated several novels according to the thesis.
