A Study On The Characters Of Bamboo Slips Unearthed From Chu Tomb At Geling Village, Xincai

The bamboo slips unearthed from the Chu state tomb at Geling village, XincaiCounty, are a great discovery of slips with inscriptions of the Chu state from theWarring State period, after that the bamboo slips with the great number and richcontent were excavated in Xinyang, Wangshan, Baoshan, etc, Henan and HubeiProvince. Since the publication of the book named The Chu State tomb at GelingVilllage, Xincai County, the bamboo slips with inscriptions have given rise toextensive academic attention. The thesis takes the bamboo slips recorded in the bookas a main research object, and certain characters of the slips are discussed based onthe latest researches in the academic circle and the systematic and comprehensiveinvestigations. And, some problematic characters will be interpreted with novelviewpoints as far as possible.The paper is divided into four parts.Chapter One is mainly to introduce the excavations and contents of the bambooslips simply, and detailed summarization relating to academic achievements will beformed with six subjects.Chapter Two and Three are the major parts which is mainly to investigate thespecific characters. For one thing, we discuss certain scripts with huge controversy,and make the investigations anew. For another, detailed investigations of more thanthirty characters are interprets based on the academic researches and combining withrelated material.Finally, the grammatology value of the bamboo slips is revealed from the fouraspects.The thesis is to make a comprehensive and systemmatic study of the charactersrecorded in the bamboo slips, which is still elementary research and could helpexplain the difficult issues of literrature of Chu bamboo slips and futher the studies onthe history of Chinese language.
