The Group of Eight Sculptresses in CAFA Sculpture Creation Institution is a unique phenomenon no matter in the contemporary sculpture history or in the feminie art history. These eight sculptresses are the first number of sculptresses who graduated from the highest art college—Central Academy of Fine Arts since the founding of New China, and they also focused on the CAFA Sculpture Creation Institution in devotion to the construction of city sculptures of New China. No matter in view of their education or their art achievements, the group of sculptresses is representative in sculptress history.On the study of the group of sculptresses, the thesis mainly analyzes the art achievements from the three points: creation commonness, creation individuality and feminie quality in a particular historical context and in a social background in order to give a clear reflection of the development of the group's art creation. The first chapter introduces the general situation and the formation of the group, and gives the general features. Chapter 2 mainly discusses the commonness of the group, and studies the necessities of their creation commonness and how the assigned sculptures became the main way of the commonness emerging. Chapter 3 is mainly about the creation individuality of the group, and explores the characteristics and the development of their individuality. Chapter 4, from the angle of feminie study, discusses the feminie quality and femenie spirit in the works of the eight sculptresses. Finally, the writer tries to sum up the significance and value of the group study.
