Being one of the classics, Book of Rites always attracts a lot of scholars annotating. These annotations once dominated major traditional thoughts. Basicly, there are three methods in annotating Book of Rites: Compiling and re-structure, significance annotation and textual research annotation. The latter two methods are more popular comparing to the first one. The time scope of this article is on the medium term of the Qing Dynasty, which refers to Qian Long (1,736-1,795) and Jia Qing (1,796-1,820), 85 years in total. During this period, Sun Xidan, a Wenzhou Rui-an's scholar, wrote "Annotation Aggregation on Book of Rites", carrying out significance annotation on Book of Rites; And Yangzhou Baoying's Zhu Bin wrote "Explanations of words collection on Book of Rites", carrying out textual research. These two books respectively represent two kinds of annotation methods in the medium term of Qing Dynasty. This article attempts to identify the processes, historical development and the changes of the two annotation methods (Significance Annotation & Textual Research Annotation) through these two books. The article also discusses the classical annotation's destiny in the modern society.Besides "Introduction", the article includes five chapters: "Introductory remarks: Classics and Classics Annotation Tactics ". The system organized the three methods how to occur with the development, as well as each time annotation representative works and its annotation characteristic. First chapter "Background of Annotation—Thought and Academic Condition in the Medium Term of Qing Dynasty ", introduces the transformation of academic studies, the academic atmosphere and characteristics in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, and tabulates each kind of works in the medium term of Qing Dynasty. Second chapter "Take Significance as Foundation Annotation" introduces Sun Xidan's biography, studies on his prose and knowledge, his works and the local academic atmosphere. Next, this chapter tabulates cites to test the text source. Finally narrates and comments the significance annotation characteristics of Sun Xidan. Third chapter "Take Textual Research as Foundation Annotation" introduces Zhu Bin's biography, his teachers and friends of study companion, the knowledge position and the regional academic atmosphere. Next, Chapter three tabulates cites to test the text source. Finally, this chapter narrates and comments the annotation characteristic of textual research annotation. Fourth chapter "Significance Annotation, Textual Research Annotation and Classical Annotation Modernization" summarizes similarities and differences of Sun and Zhu's annotation methods. Then Chapter four forecasts the modern destiny of classical annotation. Final chapter "Conclusion" summarizes the significance and the value of the topics this article studies.
