Research On Guoyu

Guoyu is an important history book of pre-Qin period records words, and has major value in the Chinese history of historiography. Most scholars in Wei and Jin dynasties thought that Zuo Qiu-ming who wrote Tso-chuan was the writer of Guoyu. The also regarded it as Chunqiu's unauthorized biography for their similar content. To the Tang Dynasty, Liu Zhiji thought it quasi-classic. But since Fu Xuan of Jin Dynasty and Liu Xuan of Sui Dynasty proposed the author of Guoyu was not Zuo Qiu-ming, the scholars paid attention to discussing the writer and the writing years. Their conclusion were lack of vigorous proofs Generally speaking, their research field of vision is quite narrow, modern scholar's research area has expands, except making great progress on discussing the writer, edition, school note, and thought of Guoyu. But these studies scattered, having no formed the system. This should not really to Guoyu which is such an important historical book.The author thought that the important value of Guoyu should not be suspected, and it is also very essential to make an special research. In the foundation of organizing the research results of former scholars, and in view of it's present situation the text reseatch on Guoyu with the method of comparison.The full text is divided three parts, namely introduction, main text and conclusion. In the introduction, first the author elaborates that studying Guoyu has academic and the reality significance. Next the auther looks back into the history of studying Guoyu, and introducing the present situation. Finally the auther points out the insufficiency which formerly studying exists, and introduce mentality and method of this text. Main text has six chapters.The first chapter is to carry on studying again the compiler, the book in circulation age and the nature of Guoyu, which makes our study attitude clearly, and establish research premise. The auther focuses on elaborating that Guoyu is a national style historical book and record talks in nature. There is not contradiction between Yu and Shi. In addition, we thought that regarding Guoyu as"the unauthorized biography of Guoyu"and quasi-classic tallies with the reality, it is not excessive commending.The second and the third chapters mainly discusses the origin of historical data and edition of Guoyu from the literature study angle. We will focus on detailed study the characteristic and value of exposition of Guoyu by Wei Zhao. Wei inherited the tradition of note book of Han Dynasty, becomes a famous study, the annotation is plain and easy to beginner. Drafts broadly were cited from many sources, it held beginning of commentary. Its value is that it established ties between Guoyu and the classics and commentaries, which promoting the historical status of Guoyu.The fourth chapter is focus on elaborate historical value of Guoyu. We will judge the historical data of Guoyu according to the antiquity fable, Xia Shang Dynasty, the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Spring and Autumn Period four parts respectively, highlight their reality and credibility. In contrast with the historical data of Tso-chuan, mainly same or slightly difference through two books explain that they prove and supplement mutually. In the history of historiography, Guoyu may be called the perfect union model of"Yu"and"History", its opening remarks nationality style in historical book also should not be suspected. Guoyu is the development of personal compiling history, has function of linking the preceding with the following.The fifth chapter mainly discusses the thought of ruling Li and people-oriented, the view of destiny and Siyi of Guoyu.The sixth chapter mainly discusses the influence to the later historical book in contrast withg Guanzi,Shih chi, Yue Jue Book and The Annals of Wu and Yüeh, which should certify the credibility of Guoyu's historical data.The conclusion mainly summarizes the full text, prominent major point and unique interpretation of this article.
