Though comparatively researching into exploring the critical point of evolvement of Chinese literature from ancient to present by seeking common ground while reserving differences, the article mainly investigates transmission relationship between Liang Qi-chao and New Literature of May 4th Movement. Thus it analyzes native spiritual resources of New Literature of May 4th Movement deeply, and furthermore pursuits the underlying causes why Liang's enlightenment thoughts and literature revolution hadn't lead to Chinese Literature modernity transformation.Firstly, the full article gives an account of selecting the research perspective of "Evolution of Chinese Literature from Ancient to Present". Then, after the brief summary on whole thinking, it studies Liang's understanding and acceptance to the western learning dissemination in the late Qing dynasty from following three aspects: acceptance approaches-sailing to Japan to learn west; acceptance methods-translating Japanese books using "Learning Japanese Through Chinese"; acceptance contents-advocating literary style transformation through political novels, so as to reveal distortion and misinterpretation coming from Liang's intercultural transformation processes among Chinese , Japanese and the West.It can be seen that Liang's influence on New Literature in May 4th Movement was far-reaching and one-sided. At first, the New Literature absorbing western humanistic values was influenced by Liang's comprehension of the western learning. Secondly, his criticism to nationality weakness initiated the criticism headtream to Chinese nationality taking Lu Xun as the respective. At last, Liang's utilitarianism literature view also had the influence that can't be underestimated on literature view, esthetics style as well as stylistic forms of New Literature of May 4th Movement.Liang's Chinese acceptance style to the western learning has profound thoughts limitations. The writers of the New Literature of May 4th carried not only Liang's thoughts brilliance but also his limitations. Thus, although the generation of May 4th had already transcended him, they lingered at the Critical Point of evolvement of ancient and modern Chinese literature. So far, the leap of Chinese Literature from classic to modern hadn't completed. It is still "on the road".
