Tscha Hung is a famous philosopher in modern China. As a lineal student of Moritz Schlick, and also a member of Vienna circle, Hung does his utmost to introduce and develop philosophy of logical empiricism as his life idea.Hung is deeply impressed by an ideal of enlightenment and scientific world-view. He insists that the explicit sprite of scientific analysis should be applied into philosophical investigations. This stands for a new viewpoint from the linguistic turn in philosophy. He fiercely attacks idealism in Germany philosophy as Bertrand Russell, and criticize transcendental philosophy as his teacher Moritz Schlick. He insists the division between analysis and synthesis, believing that logical analysis can definitely resolve philosophical problems and quarrels. To be brief, we will talk and do philosophically. He enthusiastically propagates philosophy of Schlick, simultaneously criticizing his teacher. He often quotes what Wittgenstein says about analytic propositions, which is called tautology, not fascinated yet by that genius, and constantly cite proverbs told by Schlick as follows, who following others must be dependent on those.Hung is not a complete opponent to meta-physics. What he rejects is that philosopher who thinks they can show some eternal truth surpassing our experiences. However, Hung strongly proposes a notion of practical meta-physics which cares nothing than people's belief and morality. Hung exclude meta-physics from the division between experience and cognition, and reserve the positive meta-physics, which is a fundamental feeling of life, in practical domain. From the point of Hung, the ultimate objective of Philosophy is pursuing a unity of spirit, extending our mind, making progress of our intellectual, creating principle of thought or new theory. Therefore, Hung draws a conclusion that the ebb and flow of a culture, even the surviving of a nation, is thoroughly depending on its philosophy.
