Gu Su Prints' another name was Su Zhou Prints,It's one kind of Printmaking work which was printed in Su Zhou District in Ming &Qing Dynasty. It was reached another development peak in the Chinese Traditional Printmaking Art after the Wu Lin Prints and Jin Ling Prints. The Gu Su woodcut prints was influenced by the western painting art in the Qianlong &Yongzheng period,it runed perspective and line graphic in the image, and it described the grand space by the delicately way, most of these work were collected in Japan now.Japanese scholars have done the research about these Gu Su prints in the 1930s.They considered these series was the typical form of the Gu Su prints,it was the representation of the prosperous period,Chinese scholars had the same standpoint. In my opinion, these series of prints which can be called western influenced Gu Su prints was not the typical form of the Gu Su prints, and it was not the representation of the prosperous period. It was a particular form. These western influenced Gu Su prints were the overseas sales work which mainly sold for Japanese market. |
