Different scholars of different times have been attached greatimportance to the meaning of Zhuang Zi's Transcendental Happiness.But there are still lack of systematic analysis and demonstration in thisfield. Most of the discussions are focused on the analysis of originalmeaning of Transcendental Happiness. The evolution clue of this coreconcept of Zhuang Zi has not been thoroughly discussed and notenough works of Zhuang Zi study has been covered. This dissertationtries to fill this academic gap by analyzing the evolution of this conceptin Zhuang Zi study history.The introduction part of this dissertation describes the criticalimportance of the Transcendental Happiness Walk Chapter in ZhuangZiAnd it also analyzes the original meaning of ZhuangZi's Going RamblingWithout a Destination and gives a synthesis to the current situation ofresearch on this subject.Chapter one mainly analyzes the proper Happy Wandering theoryof Guo Xiang. On the basis of the Independent Evolution idea, GuoXiang comes to the conclusion that with or without destination are allproper rambling in his Notes on ZhuangZi。Chapter two mainly analyzes the theory of Zhi Dun, a famous monkin East Jin dynasty. Zhi Dun adopted the Buddhism wisdom tointerpret his understanding of ZhuangZi. He successfully confrontedGuo Xiang's theory by offering a new standard of enlightening thehearts of holy people.Chapter three firstly retrospects the roc images in the literature ofWei, Jin, North and South dynasties. Then it focuses on poet Li Bai'sRoc Ode to interpret the rambling spirit of the literati in Tang dynasty.Chapter four mainly deals with the free and easy rambling theory ofWang Fang, Lv Huiqing and some other scholars. Many scholars in Song dynasty like Wang Fang tended to analyze and interpretZhuangZi's rambling spirit under the guide of Yin Yang theory. Butscholar Lin Xiyi who lived in the late period of Song dynasty thoroughlyconfronted this kind of research paradigm and tried to interpretZhuangZi's rambling spirit with the a more Confucian word Le(pleasure).Chapter five focuses on the theory of Luo Miandao who lived in thelate period of Song dynasty. Luo Miandao interprets the rambling spiritwith the word Hua (variation)。He separates the rambling walk into twodifferent categories: delicate rambling and coarse rambling. Luo regardsthat a person is a supreme one if he forgets about himself and this canbe seen as the most delicate rambling spirit.Chapter six mainly discusses how the scholars of Ming and Qingdynasties interprets the rambling spirits of ZhuangZi's under the macroperspective. Lin Yunming, Xuan Ying, Hu Wenying, Liu Fengbao andsome other scholars have deeply explored the rambling meaning fromthe perspectives of rhetoric, structure and idealist philosophy.
