The teaching of environmental art design in China has existed morethan half a century. Since in 1957 Central Academy of Art and Designestablished the first "Department of Interior Decoration" (now departmentof Environment Art Design), it came all the way lonely for more thantwenty years. In the middle and late eighties of last century, with thedeepening of reform and opening and the leading of market economy,environmental art design specialty has developed across-the-boardbecause of the strong market demand. After it has been quickly developed,even quickly expanded for twenty years, when we have experienced a lot,we can calmly look through the status quo of environment Art Designteaching overall. It can be easily found, the current situation is thatthe bad and the good account half, the problem and achievement are inexistence.In this paper, the development history of environment art designspecialties of the domestic main academy and university was verticalrecalled, some problems were tried to be found in the course of growinghistory. The past can be used for the current, the precision can be keepdiscarding of the rough. It takes time to look at the track along the way.Let us cast off times background and limitations, let us clearly look atthe history, and provide a reference for reality. Let history tell future!Through comparing western and domestic development ofenvironmental art design specialty, we try to find the gap between thespecial knowledge and the real world life. In accordance with theprinciples of "make foreign things serve China", "eliminate the falseand retain the true", "know both enemy and us", we could win thecompetition. That' s the only way to the professional environmental artdesign world, which China' s pioneers must be preparing for. With the comparison between time and space, the horizontal and thevertical, it is probable to find the real problems. Since last century80' s, environmental art design has made a great big through under theprosperity of China' s economy. Until 2007, there were more than 1247academic organizations which established art and design specialty(according to Professor Xu Ping' s report). Most of the art and designdepartments included environmental art design. This affection to the reallife was unprecedented. Although the development was rapid, the statusof teaching was not so optimistic. Due to the too fast progress, therewas no chance to accumulate, there was also no time to recollect the pastand plan the future. So, the good and bad are intermingled.Teaching status quo of Environment Art Design specialty cannot beoptimistic. Many reasons have resulted in this phenomenon. In additionto the traditional inherent factors, including that teachers and studentsbetween famous schools and ordinary institutions are unequal distribution,the more important issue is lack of basic teaching evaluation system andteaching model reference in domestic Environment Art Design education.Teacher and curriculum configuration is disordered in many institutions,so graduating level of different college students is enormous different.Design educational resources, human resources, socio-economic resources,and so on were enormous wasted. Environmental Art Design specialty canshare teaching resources among architectural design, landscape design andenvironmental art design. For many institutions, our specialty is no lackof teachers, but lack of scientific teaching structure, tmacro-scientific evaluation system, innovative teaching model, andpersonalized teaching thinking. I think this is the most important issue.It is precisely the starting point of this article.The core of this paper is to establish a modular new teaching model of universal value and professional teaching evaluation system accordingto above situation. Based on longitudinal comparative study of currentdevelopment history of the domestic specialty and horizontal comparisonstudies of Chinese and foreign environmental design education, byidentifying problems, analyzing the causes of problems, possiblesolutions to the problem, finally epistemology of dialectical materialismwas used to be a theory of knowledge (theory of knowledge) base. Thecross-disciplinary systemic engineering science and the modular theorywere used to be methodology. The area of environmental art and designeducation was microscopically looked at by the view of SystemicEngineering. Above all, a new teaching rules, co-ordinate theestablishment of one new environmental art design teaching design, afeasible theory, the practice modules, the scalable modules, and a newteaching model conversion can be eliminated. Based on the new model,according to the current technological level and economic level, amacroscopical teaching evaluation system of environment art design wasto be established.The core of clues of this paper can be attributed to the following:the introduction of a new epistemology - the introduction of a newmethodology - a new professional teaching model -a new professionalteaching control system.
