A Spiritual Quest

In the past one hundred years, the central connotation of psychoanalysis has passed through from"individual unconsciousness"to"collective unconsciousness"then to"language-construction unconsciousness"three periods, which are respectively named by Freud,Jung and Lacan. By contrast with the history of psychoanalysis is the Chinese contemporary literature′s growing course which sprang up some important composition thoughts such as"personality liberation"in the"May Fourth"period,"nation Root-seeking"in Chinese New Period and avant-garde literature′s"language carnival". It is easy to find out that two phenomena that happened in different areas and different countries have so neat relation . Literature always goes with relevant discipline (such as philosophy and psychology) in finding roads for man′s spirit.The dissertation consists of five parts: the introduction is a resume that has a comment on the history of psychoanalysis and its introduction in China, bringing forward three consanguineous levels about psychoanalysis and spirit changing of Chinese contemporary literature, fixing on Freud with the"May Fourth"literature. Jung with"Root-seeking"literature . Lacan with avant-garde literature as study objects. In the first chapter, the point is that Freud found human′s unconscious area and that"man′s literature"was brought forward. Then question how Freud′s theory influenced the literature in the"May Fourth"period, and how his theory supported personality liberation. In the second chapter , Jung'theory including his search for psychological integrality,his views about nature and his criticism on western culture is analyzed. Root-seeking literature which found spirit home in the nation culture is the same as Jung′s spirit research. The third chapter′s background is western magnanimous"capital narrative", introducing that Lacan′s structuralism psychoanalysis discusses human′s subject losing and on the modern man′s spirit declining which is based on his research about language and nomination tragedy .Just in this sense, avant-garde literature is the spokesman of the people in modern age in vagueness.In the last part of dissertation, the conclusion is that psychoanalysis has never given up looking for the code of human spirit from finding individual by Freud to Jung′s ancient settling of collective unconsciousness, then to Lacan′s care for subjective in language only in different way. Man′s soul is complex and spiritual, however, when it is simplified and then backslides as"instrumentalism rationalism"full of capacity and tussle, then the spiritual ecology turns up some severe problems. What psychoanalysis persists for is actually the trouble spiritual ecology now faces.Man has been always trying to understand himself. We ignore the ecological world which we human beings live with from ancient till now because of our clinging acts. At present, the world has experienced great changes. If we can surpass excessive narcissism, then we concentrate on a broader space, maybe we can understand ourselves more clear and set a more fit place for ourselves. Only by spiritual world and ecology world affording to each other , can our spiritual ecology achieve better harmony. This is not only a psychological proposition but also a literary proposition. The ultimate intention what literature persists for and expect is to recover man into overall and whole developing condition.
