Hong Wu Zheng Yun is an important rhymes book compiled by the Ming government at the beginning of the Ming dynasty. The book keeps in touch with the earlier rhymes book and has an influence on the other rhymes books, for example, Yun Xue Ji Cheng and Zi Xue Ji Yao. The dissertation analyzes Hong Wu Zheng Yun, Yun Xue Ji Cheng and Zi Xue Ji Yao by utilizing the approach of Xi Lian, checking the sound and comparatively analysis. We mainly analyze the change in Hong Wu Zheng Yun, Yun Xue Ji Cheng and Zi Xue Ji Yao and derive from the worthiness in the study of Chinese history.There are five segments in this thesis.The introduction gives the background of society, economy, politics in the early Ming dynasty. Then we divide Chinese history of Ming dynasty in two period. At the end of this segment, we point the object and the approach to discuss.The first chapter gives a brief review of research history on Hong Wu Zheng Yun, Yun Xue Ji Cheng and Zi Xue Ji Yao. Now there are abundant harvests on Hong Wu Zheng Yun which has been studied from the thirties of the twentieth century. We review the study of Hong Wu Zheng Yun from initial consonants, rhymes and the phonological basis of this book. However, only a few people research Yun Xue Ji Cheng and Zi Xue Ji Yao.In the second chapter, we introduce the phonology of Hong Wu Zheng Yun, Yun Xue Ji Cheng and Zi Xue Ji Yao from initial consonants , rhymes and tone. Then we debate on characteristic of initial consonants and rhymes.About initial consonants, we talk about several characteristics of each rhymes book, such as the exsisting of Quanzhuo initial, difference and combination of Yun, Yi, Yi and Ying, combination about Fei, Fu, Feng, the relation of Zhi, Zhuang and Zhang, the relation between Ni and Niang and so on. To rhyme, we study many questions, which are Hou Ya with Deng, appearance of /y/, connection of Han, Shan and Xian, division of Jiang and Jiang, Ru Sheng Yun and overlapping Yun. Finally, we list some syllables tables of each rhymes book.The third chapter, we compare Hong Wu Zheng Yun with Yun Xue Ji Cheng and Zi Xue Ji Yao. Firstly, we introduce their homology and distinctness. Then indicate the difference from initial consonants, rhymes to syllables. And we analyze the causations which form the difference among the books. We especially introduce the initial consonants diversity through comparing the exsisting of quanzhuo initial, difference and combination of Yun, Yi, Yi and Ying, combination about Fei, Fu, Feng, the relation of Zhi, Zhuang and Zhang , the relation between Ni and Niang. To rhyme, we talk about the difference among Jing groups spelling in Dong Yun, Hou Ya with Deng, connection of Zhi and Qi, division of Jiang and Jiang, difference between Ma and Zhe.The last chapter, we mention three book's phonetic foundation based on the comparative. Hong Wu Zheng Yun and Yun Xue Ji Cheng, have analogical syllables system, which contains real-life, conservative and man-made ingredient. The phonetics that reflected by Hong Wu Zheng Yun and Yun Xue Ji Cheng, is a written language which could be spoken but none used in true life. Zi Xue Ji Yao is a rhymes book which embody dialect of Wu. Comparing with Zi Xue Ji Yao, Hong Wu Zheng Yun incarnate phonetic characteristic of past dialect of Wu to some extent. All in all, Hong Wu Zheng Yun has worthiness in the study of Chinese history. While Yun Xue Ji Cheng has more merit to philology than linguistics.As to Zi Xue Ji Yao has more value on investigating the dialect of Wu.
