LiShangyin was a famous poet in the late Tang Dynasty,and his poems,more than 600 pieces, possess clear characteristics.The annotation of poems rose to a peak in the Qing Dynasty and there appeared many excellent copies of annotation,under this scholar atmosphere came also the annotation upsurge of LiShangyin's poems,of which FengHao's The Annotation of Yuxisheng's Poems was the best one,more accurate and comprehensive than others.Summing up the achievements and shortcomings of the annotation in The Annotation of Yuxisheng's Poems has important significance in probing into the characteristics of poem annotation in the Qing Dynasty,guiding the practice of poem annotation,and refining the general theory of poem annotation to build The Annotationology of Poem.Annotation is a complicated process to convey the meanings of ancient Books from one times to another,which bridges the minds of author,the understanding of reader,and the meanings of the poem text.This dissertation views the annotation in The Annotation of Yuxisheng's Poems at four different angles:First,what is the content annotated by FengHao,that is what are the important and difficult points in FengHao's annotation;Second,how to annotate,that is what are the ways and respects of FengHao's annotation;Third,why to annotate like this,that is what are FengHao's purposes and thoughts in the annotation;Fourth,how to comment on FengHao's annotation,that is what are the achievements and shortcomings of the annotation in The Annotation of Yuxisheng's Poems.We should consider the annotation of poem in all its four aspects stated above when we begin to annotate a poem,moreover annotation connects author,readers,poem text,and the annotator himself,so studying the annotation of poem is a very valuble angle when poems are studied.Corresponding to the four different angles of annotation stated above,the structure of this dissertation is arranged in 9 chapters:Chapter One is the introduction,giving the studying aims,ways, materials,and the studying state about this topic,of which the aims is to state the studying angles,destination,and the significances.Chapter Two is the sorting and collating of LiShangyin's poems;Chapter Three is about phonetic notation of some characters,annotating of words,phrases,and allusions;Chapter Four is the explanation of sentence's meanings and elucidation of poem's meanings;Chapter Five is the artistic aesthetic appreciation of LiShangyin's poems;Chapter Six is about the codifing of LiShangyin's chronology and organising all his poems in chronological order: Chapter Two to Chapter Six is the main contents of FengHao's annotation,which is "what is the content annotated by FengHao".Chapter Seven is the style of The Annotation of Yuxisheng's Poems,or the ways of the materials arranged in order,which is "how to annotate",speaking mainly from the form(as to "how to annotate" in contents,they are arranged in the Chapters Two to Six).Chapter Eight is probing the eventual destination and deep thoughts of the annotator when putting the annotation under the Qing Dynasty scholar atmosphere,which is "why to annotate like this".Chapter Nine is a conclusion,drawing a conclusion to state the achievements and shortcomings of FengHao's annotation wholly and partly,at the same time,the causes of FengHao's achivements are descripted,which is "how to comment on FengHao's annotation'.All these are the overall angle and structure of contents of this dissertation,as to the specific contents from Chapter Two to ChapterSix,they are studied in the four angles stated above as far as possible.The achievements of The Annotation of Yuxisheng's Poems lie in the following:First,macroscopiclly speaking,FengHao's annotation is more overall and systematic,and the results of annotation offer readers a complete annotation copy;Second,microcosmically speaking, FengHao's annotation is more detailed and correct,and the results of annotation offer readers a reliable annotation copy;Third,because LiShangyin's poems are very obscure,the new annotation and the reading results FengHao offered for us are very valuable;Fourth,a complete and useful annotation model of poem annotation is built by FengHao,which can become a guide to annotation of poem in future.The shortcomings lie in two:First,though in the way of testifying poems with history and affairs of LiShangyin,FengHao does not pay full attention to the open and involvable characteristics of poem,the reading results of some poems seems narrow,solid,and rigid;Second,though explaining poems in the ways of metaphor and symbol,FengHao often puts in his own thoughts before explaining,what's more,he sometimes interprets the poems beyond the text,so the reading results degrade the thoughts and arts of the poems annotated eventually.Tbe reasons why The Annotation of Yuxisheng's Poems get such great achivements,besides FengHao's rigorous shcolarship,cautious attitude,and hard work,lie in four:First,the idea of considerating times of the author,author,and his works generally;Second,the clear aim to annotate for understangding and interpretating LiShangyin's poems;Third,the specific rules of annotating words,phrases,allusion etc.,depending on the context;Fourth,the systematic thoughts of annotation which guiding all the actions of annotation FengHao taked.Annotation of poem appears two steps:one is to establish the text,the other is to interpret the text.The former includes two steps again,one is to resume the text,one is to get the initial mengings of words,phrases,allusions,and some ancient cultural systems etc.;the later includes two steps again,one is to elucidate the meanings of poem,one is to appreciate the artistic aesthetic of poem.Tbe aim of establishing the text is to smash the hinderence in language,to make the meanings of poem more clear so as to the readers can understand it more easily;the aim of interpreting the text is to elucidate the meaning of poem,to appreciate the artistic aesthetic of poem.The two aims posses different characterictics:the former is more objective while the later is more subjective because the readers in different times can make different comments on the meanings and artistic aesthetic about the same poem.Establishing the text and interpreting the text are the two essential component of poem annotation,of which Establishing the text is always the basic and necessary,while interpreting the text could change according to different text and reader.In general,the annotation of other ancient Books also includes the two essential components as same as the annotation of poem,but there are also different parts between them.The meanings been interpreted in the poem text mainly lie in the personal feelings and thoughts,and artistic aesthetic appreciation is the important content in poem annotation,all these are different from the annotation in other ancient Books.Poem annotation is connected with Documentology,Linguisitics,Literature and History etc.,and must accept the guidance from mordern Hermeneutics and Reception Esthetics at the same time.Annotation is a diachronic act to convey the meanlings of ancient Books,Xunguxue(训诂学) and Hermeneutics are integrated with it.Annotating poem is a kind of work to interpret language in language essentially,so Xunguxue(训诂学) is still the basic and essential knowledge in poem annotation,but at the same time speculative spirit of Hermeneutics should also be adopted actively while annotating poems.There are specific contents and characteristics in poem annotation itself,and depending on different poem text,there are different ways and rules of interpretation,so we should pay more attention to the characteristics of poem to explore the theory and rules of poem annotation,so as to build The Annotationology of Poem eventually.
