This dissertation discusses the need analysis of Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT), and studies the activities and framework of TBLT. It mainly consists of three parts including the foreword, the main part and the further discussion.The Foreword, including Chapter 1-2, gives the statement about the background and main point of views of our research.The main part is divided into five chapters:Chapter 3 describes the origin and structure of learners'need, and discusses the need for using L2, studies how TBLT designs tasks according to the features of real-life communicative activities.Chapter 4-7 focus on the need for learning L2. Chapter 4 argues that the learning need changes during the different phase of learning process. TBLT therefore divides the framework into 3 phases:the Pre-task phase, During-task phase, and Post-task phase. The following Chapter 5-7 respectively explores the learners'need and the different types of activities in these phases.Chapter 8 makes a case study on Business Chinese, and generalizes that TBLT is a teaching method based on need analysis, by comparing the framework of 3P with TBLT, which is a topic that worth further exploration.The attachment includes a list of authorship of the referenced cases, the bibliography.
