The Research On Watercolor Expression Language In The Value Of Design Thinking

In this information age, the development of technology has provided design with more supplementary means. But the traditional way of hand-drawing has been ignored because of those designers'excessive reliance on computer operations. Therefore, to rediscover the value of design sketches in this image era by computers, and to reassure the independent status of the language of drawing in design expressions, is undoubtedly worthy of deep consideration by contemporary designers.Combined with the diverse development trend, this thesis researches on and analyzes the value of the watercolor language in the expression of design. To an upper level of philosophical thinking, it also explores the mutual relations of the duality between thinking and expression, painting and design, as well to study the significance of color discipline in design. Theoretical organization and practical exploration in painting language will give premises and opportunities for creating high-standard modern art and reconstructing the new spirit of multiculturalism.This thesis mainly researches on watercolor language and treats it as a clue. First of all, it describes the concept of watercolor language, and divides it into meida materials and presentation techniques as two basic component parts. Then it explores its value in design process. In the process of design expressions, visual images can be presented through visual forms. Designers use graphics to record their ideas, and use hand-drawing art forms to create visual expressions. Watercolor language fully penetrates its unique expression and artistic conception into the expression of design, expand its practical value and aesthetic value.Afterwards, the article explores that the watercolor language can help designers quickly and easily record images through thinking, with ancient and modern design of hand-drawing as examples. These graphic and representative design sketches and drawing, are suitable means to transform abstract thinking to concrete images. At the same time, as a convenient coloring tool, watercolor is widely used in traditional arts and crafts. These faithfully reflect the creator's main intention. Watercolor has been throughout the history of the arts one of the world's oldest art forms and an independent category of painting and a basic training course of art education. That's why watercolor has its own independent aesthetic values. Through studies of historical materials of paintings and design sketches, we discover that it's important of watercolor to prove its color discipline and express ideas. In which "image" in mind and "artistic conception" through expression can help us understand the interactive relation between image and expression from the philosophical point of view.In the end, this article summarizes that the painting language and design expression should be integrated. As one of the painting languages, watercolor language not only enriches the expression of designers, but also upgrades the audience's aesthetic taste, so to make a conclusion that the foundation of painting can help to support the practice of thinking expression.
