A Study On Semantic Meaning Of Mongolian Nouns Facing Information Processing

A formalized description of Mongolian nouns meaning is a basic project for semantic processing of Mongolian Information Processing. In order to meet the actual demand of Mongolian Information Processing, by applying theories and approaches of computational linguistics, this dissertation studies and explores the semantic classification of Mongolian nouns, semantic collocations between nouns and nouns, valence, and further develops a dictionary named Dictionary of Semantic Information of Mongolian Nouns. The structure and major content of this dissertation are listed as follows:The section of introduction mainly introduces the basis of topic selection, a survey of studies on Mongolian semantics. Besides, this section illustrates a brief introduction, research approaches, research contents, and sources of materials of studies on semantic meanings of Mongolian nouns.The first chapter, mainly studies and develops classification system and mark sets for semantic meanings of Mongolian nouns, orienting to the information processing. Firstly, based on the previous studies on Mongolian semantic classifications, this chapter analyzes the urgency of nouns semantic classification for information processing. Secondly, it clarifies the general thoughts, standard, objective, basis, requirement and mark sets for semantic nouns classification. Finally, this part illustrates the classification system of nouns'semantic meanings, as well as its functions in different application systems.Based on the classification system of nouns'semantic meanings, the second chapter studies the collocation regularity between nouns and nouns. By clarifying such theoretical issues as the concept of "collocation," its features and types, this chapter describes the research methods and steps on semantic collocations, and outlines the regulations of nouns'semantic collocation.The third chapter analyzes the valence function of the nouns based on the meaning and semantic classification system of Mongolian nouns. This chapter clarifies the definition of nouns valence from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, and illustrates that the properties of nouns valence belong to the horizontal feature of semantics from the perspective of Lexicology. At the meantime, it analyzes the quantity and quality of Mongolian nouns' valence, and further describes the relationship between them by using formulas.
