A Statistic Research On Mongolian Suffix And The Grammatical Function For The Information Processing

The research on Mongolian suffix has been fruitful both in new field and level. Anyhow some certain contents have not been touched or not been studied deep enough. The research on Mongolian suffix is an example. This dissertation has studied systematically about the Mongolian suffix based on corpora and statistics to draw out the grammatical functions, so as to transfer the research from man to working on computer.The dissertation is completed on the corpora of seventy thousand words from New Mongolian and Chinese Dictionary. According to another dictionary of standard pronunciation and orthography of Mongolian,55098 words are input, tagged and classified. On all the former work, the new data of suffix are counted and classified. Then the suffixes are classified again into suffix of common use and uncommon use by their features and functions and the rule of adding suffix after roots are stated systematically.The dissertation comes up with the following conclusions:?.Suffix of derived noun, adjectives, verbs etc. word-class in Mongolian are rich and colorful, and they decide the derivation of new words of these classes.?.In the structures of suffixes, compound suffixes are relatively in majority. Compound suffixes are made up of two or more suffixes and there reflects more variant forms.?.Mongolian suffix are many, we classify them into substantives group and verb group.IV.The characteristics of Mongolian suffix are the following:1.Suffix can be added up constantly in a word.2.suffix from the same word group can only be added up in a word when bears different grammatical use.3.Kin affix are with similar grammatical use.?.Some suffixes are with the same shape in Mongolian, like the word-qi/-tu/-tai/-1/-n/-s etc.?.Variant forms of suffixes are mostly ended with-g.?.There are 104 affixes according to the statistics.1. They could be separated to yin and yang.2. They could be written continuously or in separate.3. They are added after vowels and semi-vowel.4. They are also could be added after semi-consonant.5. They are used after semi-vowel or semi-consonant except for -n/-u/-i.
