Research On Yongming Style Poem

Yongming style poem has been an important, challenging and controversial issue in the field of research on Chinese poem. In order to unveil the true nature of Yongming style poem, and clear away the barrier in the way of research on other disciplines, this essay, referring to the essays written by former poem critics, has made a thorough research and analysis on the rhythmic poems written by Shen Yue, Wang Rong, Xie Tiao, Xiao Yan, Ren Fang, Lu Chui, Fan Yun and Xiao Shen, with a view to have a systematic and accurate understanding of Yongming style poem.The essay aims to have a thorough analysis of the eight representative poets of the Yongming genre, to explore the nature and feather of Yongming rhythm, to understand how rhyme and couplet is applied in Yongming style poem, to compare the Yongming style poem with contemporary Chinese poems and find out how rhythm develops in the history of Chinese poems. Because the limitation of time and capability, I haven't made the comparison yet, and has only made preliminary research on Yongming style poem.The feature of this essay is as follows:1. Scientific way of researchThe traditional way is based on impression and examples and the conclusion is more subjective. This essay adopts the ways of strict reasoning, summing up, statistics and comparison to explore the true nature of Yongming style poem so that each conclusion is based on the scientific analysis of facts.2. Broard PerspectiveThe former research is done from the perspective of literature and most of the research gives explanations for individual phenomenon. This essay adopts a board perspective and covers the all the basic elements needed for doing research on Yongming style poem such as theory, sound, rhyme and couplet.After doing research, the main conclusion drawn by this essay is listed as follows;1. Yongming poets didn't propose " the different pattern for the 4 sounds". In practice, they use " 4 sounds" to beautify the pronunciation. Though they didn't reach the strict sound pattern widely used by contemporary poets. They also pay great attention to the sound pattern.2. Yongming style poem give emphasis to the sound difference between the first 2 words and last 3 words in a "5 word poem". The basic demands for poem is the sound difference between the first 2 words and last 3 words so that the sounds of the first 2 words differentiate from the sounds of the last 3 words and the whole sentence demonstrates a musical beauty while reading. " the use of 4 sounds and sound difference between the first 2 words and last 3 words is the most remarkable feature of Yongming style poem, which stands in contrast with mature contemporary poems.3. According to the feature of Yongming style poems, this essay divides the structures of Yongming style poems into 4 categories and 4 sub categories and use figures and graphs to display the the structure and rhythms of Yongming poem. Based on the statistics, the essay analyzes and explains the sound structure of Yongming style poem.4. On the basis of correcting the wrong words and identifying the rhythms, after analyzing the poems composed by Shen Yue, Wang Rong and Xietiao, I have sorted out 33 types of rhymes, which shows the poets were strict at rhyming.5. After analyzing the poems composed by representative poets in Yongming era, we conclude that " 5 word,8 sentence" couplets are the main feature of the poems of this era. Few of the poems are double couplets. The couplets are used in the middle and rarely used in the first and last sentence. This explains that Yongming poem blaze the trail for the " 5 word" couplet.
