Leo? Janá?ek (1854~1928) who is a famous Czechs composer in 20th century has now been considered universally as the forerunner of modern Czechs music and also one of the most important composers in early 20th century in the world. He inherits the Czech's traditional culture and treats the fork music as main source of his creativities with plenteous works containing orchestral music, chamber music, operas, pianos, art songs, choruses, etc. in which the nine operas present typically Janá?ek's creative talent and lead to his great achievements & contributions in the field of opera creating.Kát′a Kabanová, the sixth opera of Janá?ek, is the masterpiece in his maturity period, as it by combined the nationality and the music thinking of the twentieth century not only reflects the creator's consummate mastery of theatrical technique, but also contains a rich and deep spiritual connotation. Because that, the issue has been researched on this opera in the four areas of script writing, music creation, spirits and historical values.The issue is composed of six parts. Firstly, the Introduction sets out the object and status quo of concerned studies, as well as significance of the topic. Then, the first chapter compares the script with Ostrovsky's play"Thunderstorms"analyzing the modifications and their effects to the theatrical representation for opera. Chapter II looks at the music creation, including the nationality and style of the time in the music language, the personality characterization of the characters, the sequence and performance of the music theme, and the instrumental performance. Upon that, Janá?ek's excellence techniques and artistic styles have been established gradually and clearly. Chapter III researches the social and historical contents of the opera and reveals its deep spiritual them by using methodology of historical materialism in the view of social, cultural and historical context. Chapter IV Historical Research from the perspective of this opera in the history of European music in the status of vertical and horizontal comparison, including senior Smetana, Dvorak operas comparison with the same period comparison of operas in other countries, as well as the impact on later composers, the historical value of this opera to make objective and rational evaluation. Finally, the Conclusion makes of summary and evaluation of all the viewpoints cross the general body of the chapter, and expounds the inspiration of opera "Kát′a" to Chinese contemporary opera creations.
