A Study On The Connotation Of The Rice-farming Culture In The Folk Prosaic Narrative Literature Of Zhuang Nationality

As the indigenous people in ZhuJiang Valley, the Zhuang ancients are one of the earliest ethnic groups that have created rice farming civilization. The social lifeway, which is mainly concerned with rice farming, has contributed to the formation of their cultural system whose center part is the "Na" (paddy, namely, rice) culture. The folk prosaic narrative literature of Zhuang Nationality is an important component part of this culture. With rice farming as the main basis of the living, Zhuang people have created verbally, spreaded with mouth and ear, transmitted and enjoyed the folk prosaic narrative literature from one generation to generation in social life. This literature is a reflection of real life, many of which have preserved the profound imprint of rice farming culture, directly or indirectly embodying the social life Zhuang, spiritual beliefs and cultural nature of this rice-farming ethnic group.This paper will explore and analyze the connotation of rice-farming culture in the folk prosaic narrative literature of Zhuang Nationality, excavate their common psychological quality and beliefs that are contained in the literature, and further interpret the cultural character of the whole Zhuang ethnic group.This paper will seek out and explain the basic spirit of literature and its rich connotation from the deep close relationship between culture and literature by using the Literature-Cultural criticism research method. In this sense, it will be the theoretical enrichment of study on Zhuang folk literature. The folk prosaic narrative literature of Zhuang Nationality used to represent their literature in an era. However, this cultural form is disappearing gradually. Therefore, choosing it as research subject and understanding profound rice-farming culture connotation from it will be of important practical value in advocating the outstanding traditional Zhuang culture and promoting the culture building and development in the new era.This paper consists of six parts.The introduction part chiefly explains the origin of choosing the topic and the purpose and significance of the study. Besides, it combs the present research situation of rice-faming culture and folk prosaic narrative literature of Zhuang Nationality. On the basis of it, this paper points out the research method and research perspective.The second part is the concise introduction of the long-history rice-faming agriculture of Zhuang nationality and its magnificent rice-faming culture. The third part mainly elaborates the emerging condition and its content of folk prosaic narrative literature of Zhuang Nationality, which appears with the influence of rice-farming culture. In order to narrate more clearly and orderly, the paper will classify the folk prosaic narrative literature of Zhuang Nationality into three kinds——the production myth about origin of the rice-farming agriculture of Zhuang Nationality, the explanatory fable about the rice-farming agriculture of Zhuang Nationality, and the narration story of the rice-farming agriculture of Zhuang Nationality. three broad headings. From these stories, we may feel the unreplaceable important position of rice-farming agriculture in people's life. And this has prompted them to create one piece after another piece of literary work about rice and transmit the work from one generation to generation by mouth and ear. It can be said that it is precisely the fertile rice-farming culture that has given birth to the rare and beautiful flower, the folk prosaic narrative literature of Zhuang Nationality.On the basis of the third part, the fourth part carefully analyzes the connotation of the rice-farming culture in the folk prosaic narrative literature of Zhuang Nationality, namely, the worship and myth about the land and rice, the understanding of rice-farming water, the beliefs on animals related to rice-farming, the unique thinking of rice-farming ethics. Ultimately, it can be summed up as the so-called"unity of heaven and human beings", which is the concise expression of Zhuang people's worldview that considers"the heaven as father, the earth as mother, the human beings as the basic", and their ecology value that the three depends on each other mutually and intimately.The fifth part is the summary of characters of Zhuang ancients, namely, constantly striving for self-improvement, temperate, introversive, unyielding, kind, tolerant.As the present rice-farming agricultural culture is stricken by modern civilization, the folk prosaic narrative literature of Zhuang Nationality is waning day after day. As to this situation, the final part of the paper maintains that this is only one immature stage in the development of national culture and believes that the current awakening of national self-awareness and the development of root-seeking culture will promote the self-adjustment of rice-faming culture the. And the folk prosaic narrative literature of Zhuang Nationality will also move towards a new developing turning point.
