This dissertation reviews the history of politic development of Thailand since 1970s, studies the impetus and the route of the politic transformation of Thailand, and predicts the political prospect of the Thailand according to the political development rule.Chapter one, the introduction, deals with the theme of the subject matter, namely, the major conceptions, theories and methodologies applied in the dissertation, current studies on the subject, the major content, and the innovative reflections. This dissertation takes the"politicized society interest group"as starting point and the"politic-power-structure"as foothold of the analysis, and abstracts the political transformation as a process of forming the mutual agreement between the system of"politic power structure & economic interest structure"and"politic power structure & politic culture tradition".Chapter two studies the hierarchical politic power structure in the"Thai democracy"authoritarian era, the adjustment of the economic interest structure and the politic culture tradition during the forming process of the dominant position of the military group in the political arena of Thailand, and the political renaissance of the royal family & royalists group, the political independence of the Bangkok political-merchant group, and the political rise of the local tyrannical during the economic take-off period of Thailand in the 1960s.Chapter three studies the disintegration of the military authoritarian regime in the early 1970s, the struggling for power between the left-wing and right-wing in the mid-late 1970s, and the forming process of the"Ternary Balance"politic power structure of the semi-authoritarian & semi-pluralistic regime in the early 1980s.Chapter four studies the disintegration of the semi-authoritarian & semi-pluralistic regime in the early 1990s, the political rise of the municipal middle class, the governance problems of the"fragment-like"structure of the disordered pluralistic regime, and the politic transformation requirements that embody in the 1997 Constitution.Chapter five studies the political rise of the neo-capital group in the early 21 Century, the differences in the national development road between the neo-capital group and the conservative vested interest group, and the continuing political turmoil in Thailand since 2006. This dissertation believes that, it is the uncompromising differences in the system of"politic power structure & economic interest structure"between the radical pro-Thaksin front which concludes the neo-capital group and farmer group, and the ultraconservative anti-Thaksin front which leads by the royal family & royalists group and the military group, that makes the political turmoil in Thailand difficult to calm down. The conclusion points out that, the impetus of the politic transformation of Thailand comes from the struggling for politic power among the politicized society interest group which causes by the adjustment of economic interest structure, and politic of Thailand will go along with a zigzag path towards the end of"economic liberalization & political pluralism", under the political influences of the regional external factors and politic culture tradition. From the current point of view, the traditional monarchy will gradually decline, and the neo-capital group will become the leading power of an ordered pluralistic regime of Thailand in the not too distant future.
