Construction Of China's Modernity And The Sinicization Of Marxist Philosophy

Fundamentally, the development of modern society in China is a matter of modernization. It is a major issue related to the China's national historical destiny that whether China can realize the modernization. However, the development of modernization is not a self-enclosed spiritual movement of a nation, but a historical process through which opens to the outside world. China's modernization can't be realized without the process of globalization. Globalization provides conditions and historical opportunity for China's modernization, but also impacts and challenges. It is a major topic facing the Chinese people about how to pick up the speed of China's modernization in the age of globalization, to walk on a way with Chinese characteristics and to realize the national prosperity, democracy, and civilization. To achieve the task, the process must be carried out from the following two aspects:first, to construct China's modernity and walk the way of social modernization; second, to realize the sinicization of Marxist philosophy in China and provide the theoretical guidance in building China's modernity. Viewed formally, the construction of China's modernity and the sinicization of Marxist philosophy are two different things, but they are two aspects in one question judging from its history and logic. To study the internal relation between the construction of China's modernity and the sinicization of Marxist philosophy is not only the twofold requirement put forward by theory and reality, it also has an vital practical significance and academic significance.Seen from the process of world's modernization, countries and regions that regard western modernity as the model have failed to achieve modernization; they are still at the edges of the capitalist system. It suggests that as long as the global capitalist system does not change, a nation or a country which builds modernity without proceeding from their national conditions is hard to realize the modernization goal of powering the nation and enriching its people. China's modernity construction must build its own modernity. From the point of the development of China's modernity, there are in reality two kinds of different discourses of modernity, one is the western discourse of modernity and the other is Chinese discourse of modernity. What is called the western discourse of modernity is influenced by the western liberals, who claim to walk the western capitalist road, its representative being is the famous "westernization pie" in the modern historical process of China. The so-called Chinese discourse of modernity claims China's modernity should be based on Chinese traditional culture, where the unification of tradition and modernity is not only the opinion put forward by the modern neo-confucians, but the basic idea of Chinese Marxist. But in constructing the rationale of China's modernity, the two diverge:modern new Confucians advocate Marxist Confucianism and adhere to the Confucianism as the theoretical basis of constructing Chinese modernity; while Chinese Marxists advocate the sincization of Marxist philosophy, and the unification, proceeding from the reality of China, of the basic principle of Marxist philosophy and the practice of the modernization of China practice, traditional Chinese culture and insist on the Chinese characteristic socialism modernization road.The significance of the sinicization of Marxist philosophy towards the Chinese modern construction is expressed in the layer of both practice and in theory. From the practical aspect, the practice of the Chinese revolution and modernization require the guide of Marxism, which means to realize the sinicization of Marxist philosophy. Only by combining the universal principles of marxist philosophy with Chinese reality, creating China's Marxist philosophy and overcoming dogmatism and empiricism, then can we accomplish the historical task of survival and salvation, seize the victory of Chinese revolution and establish a new state. Only in the leadership of the new socialist nation, can we build China's own modernity, and catch up with the process of world's modernization. From the theoretical level, the sinicization of Marxist philosophy is the theoretical basis and the guiding ideology of the Chinese modern construction, which is specifically reflected in the following three aspects:the Chinese modern construction has to be under the guidance of marxist, establish a socialist market economy, to insist on the reality unity of the principle of efficiency and fairness; to achieve the unification of the Sinicization and era of Marxist philosophy, promote subjectivity constructing; to value the construction of modern civil society, adhere to the principle of collectivism, and construct a harmonious society. The "people-oriented" principle is the modernization of China's basic principles and core idea. And it regards the fundamental interests of the broad masses as essential, which represent the vital interests of the masses. In this sense, the political requirement of "people-oriented" principle and the theory purport of the sinicization of Marxist philosophy are consistent. "People-oriented" principle reflects the reality spirit and practice requirements of the sinicization of Marxist philosophy.
