Research On The Urban Physical Environment Vulnerable To Crime

This THESIS constructs the Conception of the Urban Physical Environment Vulnerable to Crime by researching the impact of physical environment on urban crime, in one way of surveying related theories and researches about this field, and the other way of using datas and cases in Beijing City after 2000s as the example.There are five parts in the THESIS, eight chapters in all:Part ONE is the prologue, including chapter one. The social background and significance of the research is put forward.Part TWO is the chapter two. The Relationship between Physical Environment and Crime Behaviour is constructed on the basis of Routine Activity Theory, Rational Choice Theory, and Crime Pattern Theory.Part THREE includes chapter three, four and five. It is about Physical Design Consideration about Crime. The impact of physical environment on urban crime is showed separately to explain how the criminal make a choice in different kinds of physical environment by using Rational Choice Theory. Chapter Three is about the Position of High Crime Motivation. Chapter Four is about the Morphology of More Crime Opportunity. Chapter Five is about the Atmosphere of Less Crime Control.Part FOUR includes chapter six and seven. It is about Strategy to Crime Prevention, some Experiences and Problems of Plan and Design about Reform of the Physical Environment are introduced by comparing West Countries with China.Finally, Part FIVE is the chapter eight. The dissertation is summed up, and the Necessity and Possibility of the thesis is discussed.
