Western Agricultural Structural Adjustment

The thesis is focused on the adjustment of agricultural structure, and the research theme is to accomplish the strategic adjustment of agricultural structure in the new macro economic situation. The originality of the study lies that: (l)applying the input-output analysis method to the industrial relevance analysis on agriculture. agricultural product processing industzy and western agriculture for the first time, the reasons and effects of the agricultural structure adjustment in western region are exaniined;(2)absorbing the institution rationality hypothesis in the analysis framework of micro economy subject's performance in the aWicultural structure adjustment, the topic reveals the relation between the adjustment of agricultural structure and the supplying response of western farmer,(3) combining the theory of sustainable development with the adjustment of western agricultural structure , the macro object and course alternatives of the agricultural structure adjustment are produced in the new macroeconomic conditions. The object of this dissertation are that: (1) from the probe into the characteristics of the agricultural development in western region, we analyze the problem of agriculture development and the necessity of strategic adjustment of agricultural structure;(2)the features of western agricultural structure and the problems of structural adjustment are exposed, then the features and general causes of the agricultural structure adjustment evolution in western region are explained;(3)with the input-output model, a positive analysis on the industrial relevance of agricultural structure in Chongqing city is made, then the impact which is inflicted on the adjustment of agricultural structure by developing agricultural product processing industry in western region is analyzed;(4)from the perspective of fanner's economic performance, we make a study on the micro causes and effects of western agricultural structure adjustment;(5) the institutional factors and performance of western agricultural structure adjustment are revealed; (6) under the guide of the framework of sustainable development theory, we explore the mode of resources utilizing in western agricultural structure adjustment and the course alternatives;(7)on the basis of former studies, some policy countenneasures are put forward. The theoretical hypotheses of the study are as follows:(l) the changes of agricultural structure have occurred in the agriculture development process in western region with different features in different stages(2) the agricultural structure evolution is affected by supply factors as well as demand factors inside agriculture, meanwhile is constrained by supply-demand factors of non-agriculture sectors in outside agriculture;(3)thc changes of agricultural structure is restricted by effective supply of institution, and the evolution of which may induce the fluctuation of aggregate supply and aggregate demand. At the same time, the effective supply and demand of agriculture are influenced as a result;(4) the micro-basis of agricultural structure adjustment lies in the farmer's rational response to the policy and market information;(5)the development of agriculture in a countly or a region is constricted by the condition of resources, while the agricultural structure adjustment could alter the efficiency of resources allocation and influence the growth of agriculture. In the new macro economic situation, we must adjust our agricultural structure to develop the western agriculture.
