This dissertation is a research on the peculiar transformation of Russian economy from planned system to market one. It mainly focuses on the mode and the means of transformation and the microscopic and macroscopic respects in the transformation, and attempts to offer an economic explanation on the achievements and problems and the prospect of the transformation.The dissertation falls into eight chapters. Chapter One is on "the common features of market economy and the differences in the economic modes". First, it makes a theoretical demarcation on the development of market economy, and conducts a comprehensive comparison between the economic system of neo-freedom and that of social market. Then, with the economic modes of France, Sweden, and Japan, it demonstrates the features of developed market economic systems.Chapter Two is on "the goal mode and the means of transformation". Regarding the inborn problems in old planned economic system in Russia, this chapter expounds on the causes, theoretical basis, main contents, and the severe consequence of "shock therapy", Russian radical reform. In contrast, it compares the gradual reform in China and the radical one in .Russia.Chapter Three is on "privatization and Russian reform on infrastructures". First, it explores into the reform of privatization in the developed countries, believing that the modern idea of property rights is the theoretical basis for the reform of privatization in the Western countries and Russia. Then, it makes close analysis on the privatization of state-owned enterprises in Russia, and especially on the management systems of Russian companies, supposing that the primary direction for the reform on infrastructures is the establishment of mixed ownership.Chapter Four is on "Russian financial system reform". First, it illustrates the characteristics of the theories and monitoring means of the financial systems in developed countries. Then, after analyzing Russian budget system, it probes into the relationship between the tax rate and tax income. Finally, it draws a general conclusion on Russian financial system reform.Chapter Five is on "Russian monetary system reform", and is concerned with such problems as the establishment of Russian two banking systems, the changes in the duties of Central Bank, commercial banking system, priced security market, the management of foreign currency market, and the reorganization and reform tendency in the banking system after financial crisis. It tries to regard every problem from theoretical perspective.Chapter Six is on "Russian reform on social welfare system". First, it generalizes on Western social welfare systems, and reveals the theoretical basis and characteristics of social welfare systems. Then it analyzes and evaluates the main contents of Russian social welfare system.Chapter Seven is on "Russian reform on foreign trade system", and meditates on such problems as the theories and policies on international trade, Russian reform on foreign trade system, the commercial structure and the mobility of capitals in foreign trade, and Russian strategy on developing foreign trade.The dissertation concludes with Chapter Eight on "the Putin era". This chapter reviews the transformation of Russian economy in Yeltzin's time, thinking that the process would still last for a long time although the elementary structure of Russian market economic system has a vague configuration. It ends by expounding on Putin's economic blueprint and policies and reckoning upon the systematical reform in Russia.
