With multinational corporations' pursuing of globalization strategies, the world economy and finance becoming more and more integrated and globalized, the reforming China's insurance companies will undoubtedly be pushed into the market of the world's where they will have to observe the international criteria and come into intense competition with other foreign insurance companies. Meanwhile in the internal market of China's, with the national insurance industry's further opening, the foreign companies are quickening their pace in entering China's insurance market where a fair competition market circumstance to the national and foreign company is coming into shape. Whatever competitions an insurance company is to attend, national or international, it merely depends on its competitiveness to achieve successes. Studying on the competitiveness of China's insurance companies will benefit for the government's supervision department and the insurance companies to take some directed measures to improve the competitiveness.Based on the theory of enterprise competitiveness, the study analyzes the factors which reflect and affect the competitiveness of China's property insurance companies from three angles: the external market factors, the internal factors, and the policies factors, and then tries to construct an index system which may reflect and influence the competitiveness of the property insurance companies. Citing insurance markets and insurance companies in developed countries as benchmarking, using the above indexes built for evaluation of the competitiveness of companies, the study is to compare the indexes of China's property companies from the three factors mentioned above with the indexes of the benchmarking property insurance companies, and in this way to evaluate the competitiveness of China's property companies, to find out the gap between China's and the world's, to figure out the causes of the gap, and finally come up with some suggestions on policies to raise the competitiveness of China's property companies. The study consists of seven chapters:Chapter 1:Introduction. First, setting out to discuss the competitive market environment, the present situation of China's insurance industry, and the important positions of insurance industries in the national economy, this chapter offers the aim and the significance of the study. Second, the chapter looks back into the history and the dynamic state of competitiveness, and summarizes the situation and the existing problems of such studies on competitiveness in China. Third, the study method and thought are introduced. Last, the possible creativeness of the study is mentioned.Chapter 2:The Basic Theories of The Competitiveness of Property Insurance Companies This chapter provides the basic theories for the analyses of the whole study. First of all, some related concepts are defined. Secondly, by looking back into the theories of enterprise competitiveness from different perspectives and connecting them with the characteristics of insurance industry, this chapter analyzes the basic implication of the competitiveness of property insurance companies: the capability of offering their customers the needed products and services in a more effective way than it's competitors under the action of both external and internal factors, which is the source for a property insurance company to gain long time competitive advantages over others. The basic characteristics of the competitiveness of property insurance companies are summarized.Chapter 3: The Evaluation of The Competitiveness of Property Insurance Companies. First, based on of the reviewing on the composing factors of enterprise competitiveness, we think the competitiveness of property insurance companies is made up of three composing factors: the external market factors, the internal factors and the policies factors.
