Study On The Theories And Methods Of Enterprise Competitiveness Evaluation And Their Application.

With the improvement of the socialism market economy, Chinese companies are playing their significant role in the market competitive environment. Specifically, the companies are challenged by the multi-national enterprises in production industry concentration, business scale, corporate system, business mechanism, administrations, R&D, innovations, and human resources. Thus, it is of great value to analyze the essence, the component elements, current status of enterprise competitiveness, and to find out the factors that either facilitate or hinder the business development. This, undoubtedly, requires new theory and application for enterprise competitiveness evaluation.Though literatures on the field of enterprise competitiveness are fruitful, there might be no methodology for its evaluation. We combine the competitiveness theory and the application to indicate the assessment system for the enterprise competitiveness. Our works can be summarized as the follows.1. We discuss enterprise competitiveness in theory, origin, definition, constitutional elements and their implications. 2. We put forward the evaluation indicator system for enterprise competitiveness, which is made up of eight categories, four hierarchies, and thirty-four indicators. Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is introduced to calculate the weight of each indicator. 3. We establish the evaluation methodology for enterprise competitiveness, especially the evaluation methods based on systematic evaluation technique, by introducing the composite index evaluation, principal component analysis, and DEA. A comparison across the three evaluation methods is also made. 4. We also implement the application of the enterprise competitiveness evaluation methods, using the composite index evaluation, principal component analysis, and DEA, using the data from large industrial firms and sectors in HanDan city. Our findings are informative for local government decision and the firms. Finally, by extending our evaluation systems across a broader aspects , competitiveness at the provincial and metropolis level are also evaluated and analyzed, in the case of HeBei province and HanDan city respectively. Means and methods to strengthen their competitiveness are given as conclusive remarks and implications.
