At present, Chinese enterprises are not only confronted with the double restraintsfrom the economic system and economic structure transition, but also the challenge fromknowledge economy focusing on information technology, all which make theenvironment that enterprises involved in more uncertain and meanwhile lead to theshifting of enterprise value and the changing of business form. As a result, new subjects,including industry upgrading, transnational competition, change and innovation of globalmanagement, are emerging. Enterprises will have to bear the great pressure for survivaland development as well as unprecedented challenges, such as involving in "the secondround of innovation" and struggling for continuous competition advantages. MichaelPorter has told us, the essence of strategy lies in" choosing" and "changing ". Strategy, asan organic system that coordinates the relation between enterprises and their environmentin order to effectively manage the uncertain environment, will be changed as the changeof the enterprise environment. Therefore, strategic change is of a response based onchallenges from the environment, and it is the result of enterprises' combination with theirchanging environment. In fact, the surviving and developing competence of enterprises isdetermined by their suitable adjusting of successive combination degree with theenvironment to certain extent (Andrews with it, 1971). This "suitable adjusting" presentsthe strategic change that enterprises make in right time (Mintzberg in essence, 1979).Involving in the fierce market competition, only those enterprises that are good at makingchanges can obtain more developing chances and living space. Nowadays, strategically"pursuing changes" and "reacting changes" have become the important survival rule forenterprises to obtain the competitive advantages and hold on continuous operation. Inrecent years, strategic change has gradually become the realistic problem that can't beavoided by domestic enterprises, during the process of "make stronger, make bigger", "thesecond round of innovation", promoting international competitiveness, and struggling forcontinuous competition advantages. As for this, how to break traditional thinking andbehaving restrains to grip the essence of strategic change has become the importantsubject that needs to be studied and solved urgently by theorists and practices. This research, with the realistic background of knowledge economy, economicglobalization and the accession to WTO of our country, is based on the strategic changepractices from PC manufacturing industry of our country in recent years. It adopts themethod of case study. After reviewing the relevant theories on strategic change, anddeeply analyzing the theories and practices with respect to the reasons, the dominant logicand approach of strategic change, it systematically views the process of strategic change,explores the rule for enterprises strategic change, and attempts to establish the analysisframework of enterprises strategic change for catering to uncertain environment, with thepurpose of musing out the suitable way for the strategic change of domestic enterprises.We hope that, this study can supply some constructive enlightenment and suggestions forboth domestic enterprises and the theoretic field, and makes contributions to domesticenterprises during the process of " make stronger, make bigger" in quickly adapting to thechallenge of international competition after China's entry the WTO, avoiding detours,raising the competitive advantages with the less cost, and seeking and establishingenterprises' lasting growth driving force and competition advantages as well as greatachievement made in the future.
