The parolee refers to a criminal who has already finished carryingout the partial penalties in the jail (imprisonment, life imprisonment),and who has to complete the surplus prison term outside prison. With thefurther development of the community correction of our country, a numberof parolees have begun to attract the attention of the public and acceptthe compulsory education and reform of the community. However, before thecomplement of the trial community correction work of our country, theparolees nearly become a social group who do not get enough publicattention and understanding and therefore are easily forgotten by thepublic. But in fact, because of the crime that they have committed, theparolees have to not only undertake the legal liability and correspondingpunishment, but also face the danger that they might be abandoned by thesociety. It is certain that, this "danger" means social powerlessness, including all sorts of social problems, for example the powerlessness ofthe right of residence, address, work, labor security, medical service, and so on.It is necessary to pay attention to that, the parolees have to facethe dilemma after they return to the society, that on the one hand theyneed to accept the compulsory education and reform of the community, onthe other hand they have to make great attempt to free themselves fromall kinds of difficulties. This dilemma is one of the greatest challengesfor the parolees who serve a sentence in jail for a long time. No doubt,it is by no means very easy to realize the resocialization satisfactorilyand get away from the dilemma for the parolees. On view of this, it isvery important to reconstruct their social relation network and seek, byall means, all kinds of social supports for them. The actual situation is that, the great majority of the parolees haveto reestablish their own life logic in according to the change of theirlife after they have returned the society. In order to avoid and tacklethe problems arisen in life, it is essential to deconstruct andreconstruct their social support network for the parolees. Then, how canthe parolees deconstruct and reconstruct their social support network? What factors do influence their motion process? What is the basic situation of the social support network in the parolees' life course? Will the crime experience influence their social support network? How doesthe cultural system and background influence the course of deconstructionand reconstruction of the social support network? These issues posed aboveare the major contents studied by this dissertation. And these issues arediscussed by applying the social support network theory and embedmenttheory.
