This thesis takes a look into the Communist Party of Taiwan during JapaneseOccupation by taking the method of textual analysis and historical analytical methodunder the guide of Materialism and Methodology, based on History of Taiwan socialmovements(edited by Police Bureau in colonized Taiwan). The whole thesis consists ofseven parts:The first part is a brief introduction, which mainly explains the reason, significance, research methods, analytical framework, research innovation andexisting problems of this thesis, and makes a brief review of theoretical documentsand academic research. The second part elaborates the historical background before the establishment ofthe Taiwanese Communist Party. Its establishment has a close bond between Taiwan'sinside environment and outside one which affects mutually.Japanese Imperialism'scruel colonization and government towards the Taiwanese and the people of Taiwan'sself-consciousness of nationalism make up the inside political atmosphere of theIsland. As for the political atmosphere outside of Taiwan Island,CommunistInternational Oriental Strategy was ready for practice;besides,Japan and Chinastepped on the road of socialism and communism one after another. The third part traces and combs the original courses of the establishment of theTaiwanese Communist Party. The International communist activity has prepared forthe thought and the cadre for the Taiwanese communist party's establishment.Underthe help and guide of the Communist International, the Japanese Communist Partyand the Chinese Communist Party,Lin Mu-shun,Xie Xue-hong and Weng Ze-shengcommunicated with the Taiwanese Party Members who were on the Mainland,Taiwanand Japan, announced the Taiwanese communist party was founded in Shanghai onApril 15,1928.The fourth part disserts key points about"the Taiwanese nationality"and"Taiwan Independence"in the Communist Party of Taiwan's political programme. The saying of"Taiwan nation"is the product of the Japanese Communist Party copying Lenin's colonial theory that ignores the specificity of Taiwan.Under theinfluence of Lenin's thoughts about the right of national self-determination,theTaiwanese Communist party proposed"Taiwan's national Independence and theestablishment of the Republic of Taiwan"and"Down with Japanese Imperialism,Taiwan Independence"in its political programme in 1928 and 1931.However,its truemeaning is:Down with Japanese imperialism, and free Taiwan from Japanese controlrather than break away from motherland to form an independent state, hoping to gainits self-liberation first then return to the socialist China. The fifth part sets forth the causes of the destruction of the Communist Party ofTaiwan.Comintern's"The Third Period"Theory and the Communist Party ofTaiwan's"Leftist"Mistakes,Japanese police repression and the immatureness of itsparty members all lead to its destruction. The sixth part analyzes the Taiwanese communist party's relationship among theJapanese Communist Party, the Chinese Communist Party and the CommunistInternational. In the first beginning, the Taiwanese communist party is one of theJapanese Communist Party's branches which is under its control. However, since theJapanese Communist Party suffers severe damage by the Japanese government, theyare out of touch with each other. So most of the time the Taiwanese communist partyis under the guide of the Far East Bureau of the Communist International and theChinese Communist Party. The seventh part disserts the influence of the Taiwanese Communist Party on thesocial movement of Taiwan.Under leading and guide of the Taiwanese CommunistParty, the farmer Union, the Cultural Association, and the labor Union of Taiwan haveinitialed the climax of the Taiwan national revolutions, which are a huge blow to theJapanese colonists, marking a glorious chapter in the modern history of Taiwan.
